THE DISCOVERY OF A FRUIT FLY // Exploring the Intricate Details of a Colorful Fruit Fly Through Macro Photography

At first glance, its shape looks very similar to a bee, but this is not a bee but a fruit fly from the Tephritidae family.This fruit fly has a truly unique body and is equipped with a glossy black thorax adorned with striking bright yellow patterns. In general, this fly has an orange-reddish coloration with a black marking on the rear part of its back. It also has large reddish-purple compound eyes, and when viewed up close, those eyes appear to shimmer. In my opinion, this insect has highly intricate anatomical details, making it an extraordinary subject for macro photography while also revealing the hidden beauty of one of the small insects found in the wild.

At first, I managed to find this fly perched on a mango tree in front of my house. However, when I started approaching it, the fly immediately flew to another tree. Fortunately, it did not fly too far away from me, so I did not lose sight of it. This fly is relatively small in size, which allows it to move extremely quickly, and this is quite normal and can be observed in almost every species of fly.

What sets this fly apart from other flies is its truly unique coloration. At first glance, its colors look remarkably similar to those of a bee. In addition, this fly does not particularly prefer dirty places, as it often spends its time among trees searching for sweet-smelling fruits.

The primary food source of this fly is the liquid from ripe or rotting fruits. However, this fly is also often regarded as a pest by many people because it inserts its eggs into young fruits,and after the eggs hatch, the larvae feed on the fruit's flesh, causing the fruit to rot. This is also something we often encounter in fruits that appear perfectly fresh and attractive on the outside, even though they have already rotted on the inside.

I managed to photograph this fly while it was perched on a bougainvillea flower. At first, I had some difficulty because the fly kept moving whenever I began bringing my macro lens closer to it. On the other hand, I also did not want to lose this golden opportunity. With patience and persistence, I finally managed to capture several photographs of this fly.

I also managed to photograph this fly from several different angles, allowing us to observe its details very clearly, from its shape, coloration, and body structure to its overall size.
