HIDDEN DETAILS OF NATURE // The colorful charm of a skipper Butterfly and the perfect camouflage of a Praying Mantis

Looking closer at the small world of insects is truly very satisfying. Every detail we see is a view that we might not be able to see from larger objects in general. In this post, I will share several photos showing the beauty and uniqueness of two insects, namely a skipper butterfly and a mantis. I managed to find both of these insects in the forest just when some of my friends and I were having an adventure in the forest a few days ago.

And this is an insect that has a shape very similar to a moth, but this is actually a skipper butterfly from the Hesperiidae family.

This butterfly has a relatively small body and is covered with thick, fine hairs all over its body. Just by looking at the shape of its wings, we can already tell that this butterfly can fly very quickly. However, the most interesting part is its striking yellow-orange coloration, along with dark spots on its wings that make the appearance of this butterfly even more stunning.

I managed to photograph this butterfly while it was resting on a wild paper flower. It was also quite calm, which made it easier for me to capture its beauty from various angles. Judging from its slightly messy appearance, I even thought that this butterfly had most likely just survived a predator attack or had just been in a fight.

The most interesting part was when I tried to photograph it from the front. I cannot be certain, but it definitely seemed as if this butterfly kept looking at me and watching my every movement. Its large, black eyes were clearly visible and looked very striking compared to the rest of its body.

This is a wood mantis that most likely belongs to the Mantidae family. This mantis has a very unique and fascinating way of life. It is an expert at hiding and camouflaging itself among the trees. At that moment, I accidentally broke one of the tree branches, which caused this mantis to immediately run and eventually fall to the ground. At first, I was a little surprised because this mantis looked somewhat intimidating, but once I realized that it was a mantis, I immediately felt brave enough to approach it and capture its beauty.

This mantis is dominated by dark brown to grayish-brown colors, with blackish spots that make its coloration closely resemble the texture of tree bark. The most interesting features are its elongated thorax and two large, curved front legs equipped with sharp spines.
Honestly, this mantis was very wild and aggressive, which made it quite difficult for me to photograph it. At one point, I even caught it and placed it on a tree branch to make it easier for me to capture its beauty, but this mantis still kept moving and trying to get away from me. In the end, I only managed to take three pictures.
