Shadows of Guamá… for the #monomad challenge

In the heart of the Zapata Swamp, the journey to Guamá felt like traveling into the ancient and the wild. Every boat cutting through the mirror like water left behind not just a wake, but a story of visitors who, like me, were searching for something beyond the scenery.

The silence of the wetlands was occasionally broken by the distant roar of a crocodile. Their still, watchful bodies emerged from the water like guardians of time. Under the harsh sun of 2023, I faced them with my Canon 60D and 70-300mm lens, seeking something deeper in their gaze: respect.

The Taíno village, a living replica of a past that refuses to be forgotten, welcomed us with sculptures, huts, and ancestral rituals. It felt like time stood still in that corner of Cuba. All I had to do was observe… and shoot.

Because black and white doesn’t show color; it reveals the soul.

Hehe, yeah the work on the spot is always the most important part by far!

I was just wondering about the conversion to black & white, since I'm working a lot on getting my own workflow right these days. Its a bit different doing everything on open source and Linux, but its a great thing, something I wanted to do for years!
