Portraits of the Everyday; Walks Through Pinar del Río. For the #monomad challenge

These images were taken back in 2018, during a time when I was traveling across various Cuban provinces with a clear purpose: to capture the essence of everyday life, unfiltered and unadorned. Pinar del Río was one of those places that left a lasting impression on me. In its quiet streets and sincere faces, I found moments that deserved to be told through light.

Armed with a Nikon D300S, switching between a 24mm f/2.8 and an 80-200mm f/2.8, I gave myself to observation. No interventions, no scripts, just being there, watching, and shooting. This series reflects moments that may seem simple to some, but carry deep emotional weight: generational care, silent companionship, innocent play, and the quiet beauty of routine.

My approach was clear: let life unfold on its own terms. I worked exclusively with natural light, preserving the authenticity of the moment and prioritizing honesty over spectacle.

These photos are part of a larger archive I built during those travels. In future posts, I’ll be sharing work from other provinces as well; each corner of Cuba holds its own story, waiting to be told.

Thank you for stopping to look. Sometimes, the most human truths are hidden in the most ordinary places.
