First Glimpse of the Gregorio Arlee Mañalich Sugar Mill, Melena del Sur
While recently cleaning out some old files, I came across this forgotten photo series from a spontaneous trip I took back in 2018. It led me to a rural corner of Cuba I had never visited before: the Gregorio Arlee Mañalich Sugar Mill, formerly known as Central Merceditas, located in the Mañalich district of Melena del Sur, Mayabeque Province.
It was my first time there. What captivated me most was the local atmosphere, the rural life, the untouched nature, and the silent weight of its industrial past. A remote place that seemed frozen in time.

My Impressions:
That day, I went out looking for images without knowing where I would end up. The open landscape, the warmth of the locals, and the remains of the old sugar mill offered me a unique visual experience. This series is not just a visual memory, but also a marker in my growth as a photographer.
I invite you to walk through these scenes with me.
Sometimes, in what we forget, lie the most honest images.
Amazing photography
Looks like time has stopped in that place.
