Greetings, Hivers.

From a young couple enjoying the evening breeze on a rooftop, to elderly people resting in a doorway, or children playing in the streets without their phones because there is no signal, no mobile data, and no electricity, Cuba reinvents itself every day. The resilience of its people seems to have no limits. Every difficulty gives birth to a creative solution, another way of remaining Cuban: cheerful, kind, and deeply human.

I'm not going to discuss who is responsible for the problems we face today. I believe that, in one way or another, we all share some responsibility. What truly matters to me is that, despite the hardships and shortages, the essence of being Cuban remains intact.

I hope you enjoy the photographs I'm sharing with you today.

Desde una pareja de adolescentes cogiendo el fresco en una azotea, ancianos descansando en un portal o niños jugando en las calles sin sus móviles porque no hay señal, datos ni corriente, Cuba se reinventa cada día. La resiliencia de su gente parece no tener límites. Ante cada dificultad aparece una solución creativa, una manera de seguir siendo cubanos: alegres, amables y profundamente humanos.

No voy a entrar a discutir quién es el culpable de los problemas que vivimos hoy. Creo que, de una forma u otra, todos tenemos alguna responsabilidad. Lo que realmente me interesa es cómo, a pesar de las carencias y las necesidades, no se pierde la esencia de ser cubano.

Espero que les gusten las fotografías que hoy les comparto.
