Greetings, Hivers.

In the last few days, I’ve had the opportunity to photograph some truly peculiar people. One of them was a lady who read tarot cards she was quite popular and, apparently, very accurate in her predictions. I remember always seeing someone sitting in front of her, eager to consult their destiny. Her small spiritual setup, right there on the street, was both simple and captivating.

Just like her, I met several others who, in one way or another, shared a similar path some asked for offerings, others worshiped religious figures, and a few requested small donations to give to their church.

As a photographer, approaching these people is always fascinating, but it must be done with the respect they deserve. My goal is not to judge them, but to capture a glimpse of their essence, their soul, and to document their stories as truthfully and as dignified as possible. That, after all, is part of our duty as photographers.

En estos últimos días he tenido la oportunidad de fotografiar personas muy peculiares. Una de ellas fue una señora que leía las cartas; tenía muchísima aceptación y, al parecer, gran acierto en sus adivinaciones. Recuerdo que siempre había alguien consultando su destino con ella. Su pequeño set espiritual, montado en plena calle, llamaba la atención por su sencillez y autenticidad.

Así como a ella, conocí a varios que, de una forma u otra, estaban en la misma línea de trabajo: algunos pedían ofrendas, otros adoraban figuras religiosas, y no faltaban quienes pedían algo de efectivo para donarlo a la iglesia.

Como fotógrafo, siempre resulta atractivo acercarse a este tipo de personas, pero también exige hacerlo con el respeto que merecen. Mi intención no es juzgar, sino intentar captar algo de su esencia, de su alma, y registrar las imágenes con la mayor dignidad posible, sin dejar de mostrar la realidad tal como es, que al final es nuestra tarea y compromiso como fotógrafos.
