Greetings, Hivers.

While going through my archives, I found a selection I had put together some time ago. It includes a few photos of my coworkers at work, along with some images that, at the time, didn't really fit the task we were doing but still caught my attention. They may not be anything extraordinary, but I like them, and I wanted to share them with all my Hive friends.

As a curiosity, I'd like you to pay attention to the weighbridges that appear in some of the photos. They were used to weigh entire sugarcane trucks before entering the mill. Two of them are old Soviet-made scales, while the third is a mechanical beam scale dating back to the time when the sugar mill was under American ownership.

Interestingly, that American scale is the only one that still works as if it were new. I'm not trying to compare one country with another, only to highlight the remarkable quality of American manufacturing from the 1950s. Even after decades of use, it continues to do its job with impressive precision.

Revisando mis archivos encontré una selección que había preparado hace algún tiempo. Son algunas fotos de mis compañeros trabajando y otras imágenes que, cuando las tomé, no tenían mucho que ver con el trabajo que estábamos haciendo, pero que aun así me gustaron. No son grandes fotografías, pero les tengo cariño y quería compartirlas con todos los amigos de Hive.

Como curiosidad, quisiera que prestaran atención a las básculas que aparecen en algunas de las fotos. Se utilizaban para pesar camiones completos de caña de azúcar antes de entrar al ingenio. Todavía se conservan dos básculas soviéticas y una báscula mecánica de brazo que data de la época en que el central era de propiedad norteamericana.

Lo interesante es que esa báscula norteamericana es la única que aún funciona como si fuera nueva. No lo menciono para hacer comparaciones entre países, sino para destacar la extraordinaria calidad de la manufactura estadounidense de los años cincuenta. Después de tantas décadas de trabajo, sigue funcionando con una precisión admirable.
