Recently, on one of my photographic outings, I was passing by the Plaza de San Francisco de Asís, better known as the Plaza de las Palomas. It is a place very frequented by professionals and amateurs of photography and video, and no wonder: it really is a beautiful place.

But this time I came across something unusual. A colleague - or perhaps a friend - was taking photos and videos of a very beautiful young woman, dressed in elegant clothes and a band that, in the distance, said MISS. Without wasting time, I discreetly positioned myself behind him and took a series of photos as quickly as possible, without interrupting the rhythm of the event. And to my surprise, I really liked the photos, and they are the ones I want to share with you today.

It turned out that the young lady is MISS Cuba Teen, a category of the Miss Universe event that groups participants by age. She was the winner in that category, representing our country. I had no idea that this kind of categories existed, and talking later with my colleague, he explained to me that there are many more. He told me that they were promoting the young woman in Cuba before going to Miami to continue with the event there.

He also told me that they had been visiting places of social interest, such as schools for children without filial support. They were very grateful for the treatment received in those places, and said they felt unconditional love from the children.

To sum up: I went to see the colleague to offer him the photos, in case he could use them. And yes, they liked them a lot and they are using them in their networks. That filled me with joy and satisfaction.

Recientemente, en una de mis salidas fotográficas, pasaba por la Plaza de San Francisco de Asís, más conocida como la Plaza de las Palomas. Es un lugar muy frecuentado por profesionales y aficionados de la fotografía y el video, y no es para menos: realmente es un sitio hermoso.

Pero esta vez me encontré con algo poco común. Un colega —o quizás un amigo— se encontraba haciendo fotos y videos a una joven muy bella, vestida con ropas elegantes y una banda que, a lo lejos, decía MISS. Sin perder tiempo, me situé discretamente detrás de él e hice una serie de fotos lo más rápido posible, sin interrumpir el ritmo del evento. Y para mi sorpresa, las fotos me gustaron mucho, y son las que hoy quiero compartir con ustedes.

Resultó que la joven es MISS Cuba Teen, una categoría del evento Miss Universo que agrupa a las participantes por edades. Ella fue la ganadora en esa categoría, representando a nuestro país. No tenía idea de que existían este tipo de categorías, y hablando luego con el colega, me explicó que hay muchas más. Me contó que estaban haciendo la promoción de la joven en Cuba antes de ir a Miami para continuar allá con el evento.

También me dijo que habían estado visitando lugares de interés social, como escuelas para niños sin amparo filial. Quedaron muy agradecidos por el trato recibido en esos sitios, y dijeron que sintieron un amor incondicional por parte de los niños.

Para resumir: fui a ver al colega para ofrecerle las fotos, por si le servían. Y sí, les gustaron mucho y las están usando en sus redes. Eso me llenó de alegría y satisfacción.
