What do photographers see when we walk through the streets? Or better yet, how do we see it? Sometimes I go out with friends who don’t share the passion for photography, and they often ask me where I get the idea to photograph something specific—especially something so ordinary that, once seen through the lens, suddenly becomes captivating.

The truth is, photographers develop a kind of “trained eye” over time. It’s not just about seeing, but about observing with intention. Where others see an old wall, we notice the textures, the shadows, the contrast with daylight, or the way a faded color plays against a cloudy sky. It’s as if everything around us holds narrative potential, a hidden story that only reveals itself when we decide to frame it through the viewfinder.

There’s also a certain sensitivity that gets sharpened with time. We begin to notice small details that once went unnoticed: a silhouette cut out by the sunset light, the reflection in a window, or a common scene that, with the right angle and perfect timing, becomes something worth admiring. It’s in that constant search where we find the magic in the ordinary. And maybe that’s why, for us, going out with the camera is not just a walk—it's more like a visual hunt, where every corner might be hiding a work of art waiting to be captured.

¿Qué vemos los fotógrafos cuando vamos por las calles? O mejor dicho, ¿cómo lo vemos? En ocasiones he salido con amigos que no comparten la afición por la fotografía y en numerosas ocasiones me preguntan de dónde saco la idea para fotografiar algo específico, sobre todo algo cotidiano que luego de pasar por la lente gana mucho atractivo.

La verdad es que los fotógrafos desarrollamos una especie de “ojo entrenado” con el tiempo. No se trata solo de ver, sino de observar con intención. Donde otros ven una pared vieja, nosotros notamos las texturas, las sombras, el contraste con la luz del día o el juego que puede hacer un color deslavado con el cielo nublado. Es como si todo lo que nos rodea tuviera un potencial narrativo esperando ser descubierto, una historia oculta que solo se revela cuando decidimos encuadrarla a través del visor.

Además, hay una especie de sensibilidad que se va afinando. Empezamos a notar pequeños detalles que antes pasaban desapercibidos: una silueta recortada por la luz del atardecer, el reflejo de una ventana, una escena común que, con el ángulo y el momento justos, se convierte en algo digno de admirar. Es en esa búsqueda constante donde encontramos la magia en lo cotidiano, y quizás por eso, para nosotros, salir a caminar con la cámara no es simplemente un paseo, sino una especie de cacería visual donde cada rincón puede esconder una obra de arte esperando a ser capturada.
