Greetings Hivers

A few weeks ago I went out to photograph the streets using a full spectrum modified camera in order to capture infrared street photography. I usually use infrared for landscapes, but in black and white it takes on a very interesting character. Organic surfaces respond with an almost bright white, while on human skin the effect can be a bit bizarre, almost ghostly, yet still very compelling.

I made a good number of infrared photographs around Havana. I will be sharing them with you little by little.

The equipment I used for this work was a modified Nikon D5500 body, the 18–55 kit lens, and a 720nm IR filter.

Hace unas semanas salí a fotografiar la calle con la cámara preparada para full espectro, para así lograr tomas callejeras en infrarrojo. Usualmente lo uso para paisajes, pero en blanco y negro el infrarrojo toma un matiz muy interesante. Las superficies orgánicas dan una respuesta de un blanco casi brillante, y en la piel humana el efecto es algo bizarro, casi fantasmal, pero no deja de ser atractivo.

Estuve haciendo una buena cantidad de fotos infrarrojas por La Habana. Se las iré mostrando poco a poco.

El equipo que utilicé para este trabajo fue un cuerpo Nikon D5500 modificado, el lente de kit 18–55 y un filtro IR de 720nm.
