Greetings to all lovers of black and white photography.

Sometimes life itself demands a pause. The body whispers it, the eyes ask for it, the street allows it. In the midst of the daily comings and goings, of the eternal queues, of the sun that gives no respite, there are moments when sitting down for a while is almost an act of resistance. That need to stop for a moment and just be. No rush, no guilt.

In Havana, that pause has a face. It can be seen in those who sit in a doorway to watch time go by, in those who rest their heads on a backpack while the city continues its course, or in those who close their eyes for a second under a scarce shadow. It is not only a question of physical tiredness, but of a deeper need, that which is born when the rhythm of life seems to go faster than the soul. It is in those little pauses that we sometimes come back to ourselves.

A veces la vida misma exige una pausa. El cuerpo lo susurra, la mirada lo pide, la calle lo permite. En medio del vaivén diario, de las colas eternas, del sol que no da tregua, hay momentos en los que sentarse un rato es casi un acto de resistencia. Esa necesidad de detenerse un instante y simplemente estar. Sin apuros, sin culpas.

En La Habana, esa pausa tiene rostro. Se ve en quien se sienta en un portal a mirar el tiempo pasar, en quien apoya la cabeza en una mochila mientras la ciudad sigue su curso, o en quien cierra los ojos un segundo bajo una sombra escasa. No se trata solo de cansancio físico, sino de una necesidad más profunda, esa que nace cuando el ritmo de la vida parece ir más rápido que el alma. Es en esas pequeñas pausas donde a veces volvemos a nosotros mismos.
