A couple of days ago, I went for a walk through the antique shops of Old Havana. I don’t really know why I enjoy looking at those old objects so much — maybe it’s because I’m curious about the stories they carry. I’m always on the lookout for interesting cameras for my collection, or a lens I can adapt and test on my digital camera.
This time, the stars were a dusty Zenit and a very cool Kodak Retina, both quite popular back in the day. Sadly, it’s rare for these cameras to still work properly, and repairing them is often expensive. But you can’t deny they look great in photos.
Here’s a small selection from my visit to the antique shops. Hope you like them.

Hace un par de dÃas estuve dando una vuelta por los anticuarios de La Habana Vieja. No sé por qué me gusta tanto ver esos objetos antiguos, será porque me da curiosidad la historia que tienen que contarnos. Siempre ando buscando cámaras interesantes para mi colección, o algún lente que pueda adaptar y probar en mi cámara digital.
Esta vez las protagonistas fueron una polvorienta Zenit y una muy chula que creo era una Kodak Retina, muy populares antaño. Lamentablemente, es difÃcil que estas cámaras hoy funcionen bien, y repararlas suele ser costoso. Pero no me negarán que quedan genial en las fotos.

Hey, for me Zenit cameras are like a myth, so to speak, but well, there's a better chance of finding them there because of all the influence the Soviet Union had on Cuba.
They were very well used in Cuba. There were quite a few of them. The lenses are great.
