Hello, Black and White Community.

A few days ago, while walking through Old Havana running some errands and looking for things needed at home, I saw a couple of children staring intently at a store window. I couldn’t help but be immediately interested. I know well the curiosity of children and their lack of interest in the ordinary things that usually attract adults.

And I was right to be curious, because nestled among the items for sale was a beautiful cat taking a nap, as if nothing else existed but his food and his glass showcase. Without a price tag but showing himself to the world like a decoration ready to be taken home, that indifferent cat clearly knew he was the king of the place.

The children, a pair of siblings, kept walking around the display trying to pet the cat, who never even opened his eyes to see what the noise was about—surely already annoyed by it.

So I put away my shopping bag, took out the camera, and decided to immortalize the moment. That day I had more encounters with children on the streets, and here I bring you a small sample of them—joyful, curious, and with the brightest expressions to show.

Hace unos días, mientras caminaba por La Habana Vieja haciendo algunos mandados y buscando cosas necesarias para la casa, vi a un par de niños mirando insistentemente una vitrina de una tienda. No pude evitar interesarme al instante. Conozco bien la curiosidad de los niños y su poco interés por las cosas comunes que suelen atraer a los adultos.

Y bien hice, porque acomodado entre los cacharros a la venta estaba un precioso gato tomando su siesta, como si no existiera nada más que su comida y su vitrina. Sin precio, pero mostrándose al mundo como un adorno listo para llevar a casa, ese gato indiferente se sabía el rey del lugar.

Los niños, una pareja de hermanitos, insistían en darle la vuelta al expositor para acariciar al animal, que ni siquiera abrió los ojos para averiguar de qué se trataba el ruido que seguramente ya lo tenía molesto.

Así que guardé mi bolsa de mandados, saqué la cámara y decidí inmortalizar el momento. Ese día tuve más encuentros con pequeños por la calle, y aquí les traigo una muestra de ellos: alegres, curiosos y con la mejor cara del mundo para mostrar.

Espero que disfruten las fotos tanto como yo al hacerlas.
