Greetings hivers.

I have always been fascinated by the architecture of churches, especially old Catholic churches. Their design seems intended to provoke awe, to make anyone who looks at them feel small before their greatness. If they are impressive today, it is hard to imagine what a person must have felt 200 years ago, when they were probably the tallest and most imposing structures in their surroundings. They must have been a true spectacle for the eyes.

It is no surprise that they became a powerful magnet for believers. Even today, many people enter not only to worship their saints and God, but also to admire the beauty of these monumental constructions, which continue to rise with the same symbolic and aesthetic strength with which they were conceived.

Siempre me ha fascinado la arquitectura de las iglesias, especialmente las antiguas iglesias católicas. Su diseño parece pensado para provocar asombro, para hacer que quien las mire se sienta pequeño ante su grandeza. Si hoy resultan impresionantes, es difícil imaginar lo que debió sentir una persona hace 200 años, cuando probablemente eran las estructuras más altas e imponentes de su entorno. Debieron ser un verdadero espectáculo para la vista.

No es de extrañar que se convirtieran en un poderoso imán para los creyentes. Incluso hoy, muchas personas no solo entran para adorar a sus santos y a Dios, sino también para contemplar la belleza de estas construcciones monumentales, que siguen elevándose con la misma fuerza simbólica y estética con la que fueron concebidas.
