Greetings, Hivers.

Just a few days ago, I witnessed one of the strongest protests I have ever seen. After around 40 hours without electricity or water, people, understandably angry and frustrated, started a cacerolazo, a protest involving the banging of pots and pans, which ended in a brief confrontation with the authorities.

With the street blocked and tensions running very high, I did not feel safe taking out my camera, so the records I was able to make were captured with my phone.

In the middle of a completely dark night, the only light came from the glow of the flames or from the headlights of vehicles arriving at the scene, only to turn around and leave the way they had come.

I also have to be fair and say that, in this case, the police were not particularly aggressive. They mainly focused on clearing debris from the streets and moving people away from the area. It was not especially successful, though, because every time they left, the protests started again.

The quality of these images is quite poor, and I apologize for that. But beyond their technical quality, I believe these photographs serve as a record of what happened that night.

Hace solo unos días ocurrió una de las protestas más fuertes que he podido presenciar. Después de unas 40 horas sin corriente ni agua, las personas, con toda razón molestas, comenzaron un cacerolazo que terminó en un breve enfrentamiento con las fuerzas del orden.

Con la calle cerrada y los ánimos muy caldeados, no me sentí seguro sacando la cámara, así que los registros que pude hacer fueron con el móvil.

En medio de una noche completamente oscura, la única luz provenía del reflejo de las llamas o de los faroles de los vehículos que llegaban al lugar y tenían que regresar por donde habían venido.

También tengo que ser justo y decir que, en este caso, la policía no fue especialmente agresiva. Se limitaban a limpiar los escombros de las calles y a retirar a las personas del lugar. Aunque la medida no tuvo demasiado éxito, porque cada vez que se retiraban, las protestas volvían a comenzar.

La calidad de las imágenes es bastante mala y me disculpo por ello. Pero más allá de la calidad, creo que estas fotografías sirven como testimonio de lo que ocurrió aquella noche.

Espero que puedan comprender las circunstancias en las que fueron tomadas.
