National highway

I was on my way to run some errands, and when I got off the bus that took me to the end of its route, I had to walk a little over a kilometer to get to where I was going.

Warm greetings to my friends in this great HIVE family.

Today was one of those days when I needed to run some errands, so I headed to the place where I had to do them. Far from the city center, I was lucky that a bus passed by, which for many who wait for it has become something of a ghost because it is hardly ever seen. Its route ends almost at the national highway that leads west of the capital, which leads to the western provinces of Cuba.

From there on, I had to walk because the place I was going to is outside the city and far from public places and homes, due to the dangerous nature of the products they work with there. To get there, I had to cross the highway, and so I did. I was walking over the bridge that passes right over it, and it occurred to me to take some photos to make a comment with the aim of publishing it here.

First, I should mention that I am preparing for my driving theory test and have had to study the use of different roads. I am familiar with this area because I have had to pass through it on several occasions. I took the photos with my phone as I did not have my camera with me.

When I reached the bridge over the highway, I looked eastward, trying to locate the city, but all I could see were a few tall buildings in the distance. I then focused on the highway itself. As I looked closely at the road, I was struck by how few vehicles were traveling on it.

I thought it was largely due to the economic situation and the fuel shortage, which makes it difficult for people to travel long distances in their vehicles, as in the past, in search of fun in places such as La Chorrera campsite, Las Terrazas recreation center, or El Orquideario de Soroa, to name a few, or simply to visit relatives in the countryside, as we usually say.

There were only a few large trucks with their containers, a few motorcycles, and different vehicles, but not enough to fill the highway, which, despite its width, has three lanes on each side for traffic and one for parking. This magnificent architectural work connects the provinces of Havana, Artemisa, and Pinar del Río in western Cuba and is used to distribute various goods for human and animal consumption, among other things.

I also had the opportunity to photograph a man pushing two children in a rather rustic cart, who were clearly enjoying the moment.

Well, I look forward to reading your comments.
