One of My Favorite Collections: Varadero, Cuba,[Ing-Epa].
These photos were taken with my Samsung S24 in Varadero, Cuba, 2024.
This is my way of reflecting the history of my Cuba: the good, the bad, the beautiful, and the not-so-beautiful. But this time, it’s neither of those two realities—it’s something beautiful that I’m showing you today
Varadero is an example of the natural beauty that still endures in my country. Its beaches, with sand so white and waters so crystal clear, seem painted by an artist. The sunsets here are a spectacle of colors: shades of orange, pink, and gold blending with the sea, creating a dreamlike landscape. The vegetation, with its palm trees swaying gently in the ocean breeze, adds that tropical touch that makes this place a unique corner of the world.
However, behind this natural beauty, another reality also exists. Cuba is a country of contrasts: while tourist areas like Varadero maintain their splendor, many streets and cities outside these enclaves show the passage of time, neglect, and hardships. Although its streets are no longer the same and are destroyed, and only the hotel and tourist areas look impeccable, hope is the last thing we lose.
If you think Cuba is a perfect paradise, it’s not quite like that. The island is much more than its resorts and paradisiacal beaches. It’s a place full of history, culture, and resilient people who, despite adversity, move forward with a smile and unbreakable determination.
Today, I want to share with you these images of nature in its fullest splendor, captured with the lens of my Samsung S24 to immortalize every detail. Soon, I will also show you photos of the reality of the streets, because I believe it’s important to know both sides of the coin: the beauty that dazzles and the truth that hurts but also defines us.
I hope you enjoy these photographs as much as I enjoyed taking them. Each image is a little piece of my land, a tribute to what it was, what it is, and what it could be.
