My Photographic Experience in Viñales, Cuba: A Journey to the Heart of the Island, (ing/esp).

A warm greeting to this beautiful Ecency community! 🌄 Today, it fills me with joy to share one of my greatest passions with you all: photography. For me, there is no greater pleasure than going out to explore with my camera and capturing the essence of places, freezing moments that tell stories on their own

And what better way to do it than by discovering new corners? Here in Cuba, we have a very popular and wise saying that goes: "Get to know Cuba first, and other countries after." It's an invitation to discover the infinite wonders our own land has to offer before looking to other horizons. And today, I want to tell you about one of those dreamlike places: Viñales.

Driven by this idea, I pulled my faithful companion, my phone, from my pocket to turn this adventure into a unique experience and immortalize every moment. All these photos you'll see were captured with a Samsung S24 Ultra, a device whose power and quality allowed me to do justice to so much beauty. I had always admired this paradise-like place through the photographs of others, but this time I told myself: "Enough! I will go myself to that magical place and create my own images, I will live my own adventure." And this, my friends, is the result I so dearly wish to share with you.

But my story is not just about what I could capture through my lens, but also about the complete experience. The human touch, for example, was extraordinary. Where I had lunch, the people were as warm as the Cuban sun; I didn't eat much, just something simple but comforting that tasted of authenticity, of food made with care.

After tiring myself out from walking under the sun, exploring every corner, I arrived at a humble place that served a beef soup with sweet potato that was simply spectacular. It was not only delicious but pure energy; it completely recharged my batteries and gave me strength to continue my journey. That simple dish represented Cuban cuisine in its purest state: tasty, nutritious, and full of soul.

One of the most memorable moments of my day was when, in the distance, I spotted a "bohío" or hut (a traditional wooden house) perched on top of a mountain, defying gravity and time. And guess what... Yes, I climbed up there!

Even though it was a very poor and simple structure, it possessed an incredibly strong spirit. It had something magical, an authenticity and a history that no luxurious mansion could ever reflect. That little house had roots. Yes, the deepest Cuban roots: of effort, resilience, simplicity, and a deep connection to the land. And it was an honor for me to immortalize it with my lens, preserving its history in a moment of time.

I was also a privileged witness to natural cycles in their fullest splendor: I enjoyed a sunset that painted the sky of Viñales with orange, pink, and purple tones, and then the birth of a new day, fresh and full of promises. Without a doubt, this was an experience that deeply marked me and will remain engraved in my memory and my photographic portfolio forever.

If you are from another country and one day you are lucky enough to come to Cuba, do not miss Viñales. It is a place that will steal your heart. It is, without fear of being mistaken, incredibly more beautiful and peaceful than Havana, the capital of Cuba. I guarantee you that its landscapes of mogotes (limestone hills), its green tobacco plantations, and its people will take your breath away.

Mi Experiencia Fotográfica en Viñales, Cuba: Un Viaje al Corazón de la Isla

¡Un caluroso saludo a toda esta bella comunidad de Ecency! 🌄 Hoy me llena de alegría poder compartir con todos ustedes una de mis más grandes pasiones: la fotografía. Para mí, no hay mayor placer que salir a explorar con mi cámara y capturar la esencia de los lugares, congelando instantes que cuentan historias por sí solos.

Y, ¿qué mejor que hacerlo descubriendo nuevos rincones? Aquí en Cuba tenemos un dicho muy popular y lleno de sabiduría que reza lo siguiente: "Conozca a Cuba primero, y al extranjero después". Es una invitación a descubrir las maravillas infinitas que nuestra propia tierra tiene para ofrecernos, antes de mirar hacia otros horizontes. Y hoy, quiero hablarles de uno de esos lugares de ensueño: Viñales.

Motivado por esta idea, saqué de mi bolsillo mi fiel compañero, mi móvil, para transformar esta aventura en una experiencia única e inmortalizar cada momento. Todas estas fotos que verán fueron capturadas con un Samsung S24 Ultra, un dispositivo cuya potencia y calidad me permitieron hacer justicia a tanta belleza. Siempre había admirado este lugar paradisíaco a través de las fotografías de otros, pero esta vez me dije: "¡Basta! Voy a ir yo mismo a ese lugar tan mágico y voy a crear mis propias imágenes, voy a vivir mi propia aventura." Y este, amigos míos, es el resultado que con tanto cariño deseo compartir con ustedes.

Pero mi relato no es solo sobre lo que pude capturar a través de mi lente, sino también sobre la experiencia completa. El trato humano, por ejemplo, fue extraordinario. Donde almorcé, la gente fue tan cálida como el sol cubano; no comí mucho, solo algo sencillo pero reconfortante que sabía a autenticidad, a cocina hecha con esmero.

Luego de cansarme de caminar bajo el sol, explorando cada rincón, llegué a un lugar humilde donde servían una sopa de res con boniato que estaba simplemente espectacular. No solo era deliciosa, sino que era energía pura; recargó mis baterías por completo y me dio fuerzas para continuar con mi travesía. Ese simple plato representaba la cocina cubana en su estado más puro: sabrosa, nutritiva y llena de alma.

Uno de los momentos más memorables de mi día fue cuando, a lo lejos, avisté un bohío o choza (una casa de madera tradicional) encaramada en lo alto de una montaña, desafiando la gravedad y el tiempo. Y adivinen qué... ¡Sí, subí hasta allí!

A pesar de que era una estructura muy pobre y sencilla, poseía un espíritu increíblemente fuerte. Tenía algo mágico, una autenticidad y una historia que ninguna mansión lujosa podría jamás reflejar. Esa casita tenía raíces. Sí, las raíces cubanas más profundas: de esfuerzo, de resiliencia, de simpleza y de una conexión profunda con la tierra. Y fue un honor para mí poder inmortalizarla con mi lente, preservando su historia en un instante de tiempo.

También fui testigo privilegiado de los ciclos naturales en su máximo esplendor: disfruté de un atardecer que pintó el cielo de Viñales con tonos naranjas, rosas y púrpuras, y luego el nacimiento de un nuevo día, fresco y lleno de promesas. Sin lugar a dudas, esta fue una experiencia que me marcó profundamente y que quedará grabada en mi memoria y en mi portafolio fotográfico para siempre.

Si eres de otro país y algún día tienes la suerte de venir a Cuba, no dejes de visitar Viñales. Es un lugar que te robará el corazón. Es, sin temor a equivocarme, increíblemente más hermoso y tranquilo que La Habana, la capital de Cuba. Te garantizo que sus paisajes de mogotes, sus verdes plantaciones de tabaco y su gente te dejarán sin aliento.
