Lalakhal, a river which changes color......

Lalakhal, the place of natural beauty! The place has gained popularity over the years for its astounding beauty of its lake, water color, hills surrounding itself on both sides of the river. Situated in Meghalaya region, in Sylhet. During its full glory in specific season this place becomes wild upon glowing to its true self. Best time to visit this place is when the rainy season hits us and the river is full of water and you get to explore through river in boats.

This time, I took the visit in a much odd time of the year. Where the river water has gone down to a minimum and I was unable to see the true form of this place. Also, I noticed there were much less tourists during this time of the year compared to the time where people just buzz in this place and make this place as lively as possible.

Lalakhal

Lalakhal is a tourist spot in Jaintiapur, Sylhet District, Bangladesh. Lalakhal is a wide channel in the Sharee River near the Tamabil road. The focal point of the feature is the variety of colours of the water, which varies from blue to green to clear at different points.

Since Lalakhal is situated in almost near the border of Bangladesh, reaching to the place takes almost two hours from the main city of Sylhet. Although the duration does depends on the road condition and other factors related to it. There are are transports available at all times. Bus, private cars and other sorts of vehicles are open to people.

Since the journey is about 44 km, you will be greeted with some scenic views along this journey. Which makes the journey even more fascinating. Tea garden, open lands and what not. You will get some taste of village during this journey.

Once we reach to the main location, aka Shari ghat, we will set out to explore the river of Lalakhal. This is where all the boats are kept and once you book them they will take you for a tour on the river. If you bargain you will get some discount or increase the time period of the exploration on the river.

The main beauty of this place is the water. As clear as it is, it changes color during different time of the year. Blue and green are the colors that are often seen in this river. Also the calmness of the river will soothe you by just sitting near the river on a rock. Beauty of our mother nature.

Unfortunately, me and my wife were not able to explore this place due to the few reasons. As the driver (steam-engine) of the boat were absent, as they were out of this place to take lunch and the one that was available that was also over booked. So we either had to wait for an hour for the current boat to get back or move on to our next place of tour. Waiting there was not really an option, as the situation was not in our favor. So we moved on and went out for our next place. But I got some image to share with from the ghat.

From the main road once you get to reach sharighat, you will have to walk down this staircase. it is quite long to be honest. During rainy season all these stairs goes invincible dur to the rise of water level. So you can imagine how much the water level has decreased in the recent times.
