Chipmunk awakening 🐿️

The Siberian chipmunk (Eutamias sibiricus), also called common chipmunk or Asian chipmunk

yawns awake

These cute fluffy animals hibernate around mid-October (depending on the weather, it happens that in early November they still do not sleep). Previously, before that, they make large stocks of food in their homes in order to wake up and eat for a while in the middle of winter.

They wake up around the 20th of April (again, it depends on the weather). Hungry, they begin to look for at least some food, and it’s good if by this time there is no snow, and the fallen plant seeds have thawed.

This friend was met by me in the forest on April 23. He was lucky, he found some small thorns in the form of broccoli (I don’t know what kind of plant this is). They stuck to his fur and he ate them.

Hi @ratel 👋🏻

Your photos are amazing. I like the squirrels. They are funny to me. They do everything very fast. Did he eat what got stuck to his fur? 😂 How cute.
