The Complex Illustration, by Miguel Calatayud. PART II

I want to continue showing you the series of photos I took from Calatayud's exhibition in the art gallery I visited last week as I was telling you in the previous post.

(Go visit PART I of this amazing illustration exhibition: The Complex Illustration, by Miguel Calatayud.)

I want to start with this drawing as it is one of my favorites.

It is funny as I thought at first that it was a penguin! But it actually looks like an owl. A cute owl wearing a scarf that seems to be dancing between a bunch of flowers hanging from the top.

In the next one, I found really interesting that half the head of this woman is actually made of the same landscape where it is standing. Very interesting effect.

In this one, we can see a sort of skull cut in half and a circular maze on the inside. Also, it is sitting in some sort of big space that feels like the inside of some classic architecture that continues that big maze in different geometric distributions.

He has done so many... of them.. this was just a small collection from all of his work ..

and still, each of them seems to have different rules... They all share a similar style.. abstract, color cohesion, .. but the elements break differently to form strange and surprising new shapes.

The next ones are part of a collection that holds a letter blended in the drawing. As I explained in my previous post these illustrations were made to be part of children's books, reflecting I imaging some of the scenes happening in their stories...

In the first one, we have the "R" hidden in the Little Red Riding Hood.

And in this one the "o" which forms this strange man's sun-head.

And finally, another one of my favorite ones. You can find some more hidden letters in it. But they are so well integrated into the drawing that you can't really tell unless you observe it with great attention. You can see the B, A, C, and D. Let me know if you found any other ones.

I love this style. Each one is interesting, but I think this is my favorite
.

You need a good dose of imagination and skills to create such art. Absolutely mind blowing in my eyes.

I really like that one aswell. It is so unreal but with so much detail that it actually feels like a real space.
