State of Art #1 — Seeing Differently

I’ve wanted to create a space like this for a while.
Not because there aren’t art communities already, but because I couldn’t really find one that felt made for the kind of work I enjoy creating.

Llevaba tiempo queriendo crear un espacio así.
No porque no existan comunidades de arte, sino porque no terminaba de encontrar una donde encajara el tipo de cosas que me gusta hacer.

This community is for conceptual images, visual experiments, photography, digital compositions, handmade edits, unfinished ideas and personal interpretations.
Not necessarily perfect work. Just intentional work.

Esta comunidad es para imágenes conceptuales, experimentos visuales, fotografía, composiciones digitales, ediciones hechas a mano, ideas sin terminar e interpretaciones personales.
No hace falta que sea algo perfecto. Solo que tenga intención detrás.

Show screenshots.
Show layers.
Show sketches.
Show mistakes.
Show paint.
Show how you arrived there.

No solo subir el resultado final.
Enseña capturas.
Enseña capas.
Enseña bocetos.
Enseña errores.
Enseña pintura.
Enseña cómo has llegado hasta ahí.

Photoshop, real painting, photography, collage, textures, cameras, mixed techniques… whatever your process is.

For my first post I wanted to do exactly that.

Para este primer post quería hacer justamente eso.

I started from a portrait and instead of building more, I tried removing.
I isolated the eye area and moved it slightly.
Just enough to create tension without losing the face.

Empecé desde un retrato y en vez de construir más, probé a quitar.
Separé la zona de los ojos y la moví ligeramente.
Lo justo para generar tensión sin romper del todo la imagen.

While editing I kept testing positions and proportions in Photoshop until it felt wrong in the right way.
The screenshots show part of that process.

Mientras editaba fui probando posiciones y proporciones en Photoshop hasta que empezó a sentirse raro… pero bien.
Las capturas enseñan parte de ese proceso.

The final black and white version felt more silent and more direct than color, so I stayed there.

La versión final en blanco y negro me transmitía más silencio y más fuerza que en color, así que ahí se quedó.
