✈️ Hello Hive family! Here's another post about my adventures in Lanzarote!

This was my first time in Lanzarote, and I decided to take this trip completely on my own. The island surprised me from the first moment — the landscapes look like Mars, with black lava fields, red hills and places where you feel like you’re walking on another planet. It was the perfect place to disconnect, explore at my own pace and enjoy the silence.

Fue mi primera vez en Lanzarote y viajé completamente solo. La isla me sorprendió desde el principio: esos paisajes volcánicos que parecen Marte, el silencio, las montañas rojas… Es un lugar que te hace sentir lejos de todo y, al mismo tiempo, muy en paz.

What surprised me the most about Lanzarote was how quickly the island changes as you move around. One moment you’re walking along a rocky coastline with waves crashing against sharp black lava, and a few hours later you’re standing in a quiet neighbourhood surrounded by white houses and soft desert colored mountains in the background. I didn’t have a strict plan for this trip, so I just kept exploring whatever caught my eye, small viewpoints, random paths by the sea and those hidden corners where you feel like you’ve stepped into a movie set. Taking the ferry to La Graciosa was another highlight. The water suddenly turned this incredible turquoise colour and the port with all the boats looked so peaceful. The sandy streets there felt almost surreal, like time moved slower. Travelling alone made everything more intense in a good way. You notice more, you stop whenever you want and you end up enjoying the island in a very personal way.

Lo que más me sorprendió de Lanzarote fue lo rápido que cambia el paisaje mientras te mueves por la isla. De repente estás caminando por una costa llena de lava negra con el océano golpeando con fuerza y unas horas después te encuentras en un barrio tranquilo rodeado de casas blancas y montañas de color tierra al fondo. No llevaba un plan fijo así que fui explorando lo que me iba llamando la atención, miradores, caminos junto al mar y rincones escondidos que parecen sacados de una película. El ferry a La Graciosa fue otro momento especial. El agua se volvió de un azul increíble y el puerto lleno de barcos tenía una calma preciosa. Las calles de arena allí parecen de otro mundo. Viajar solo hizo que todo se sintiera más intenso de forma positiva. Te fijas más, paras cuando te apetece y acabas viviendo la isla de una manera muy personal.

These photos are some of the moments I enjoyed the most during the trip. One I took it from the viewpoint overlooking La Graciosa, one of the most impressive landscapes I saw. From up there the island looks almost untouched, with those soft volcanic shapes and the small village right by the water. Later I visited Playa Papagayo, a beach hidden between cliffs where the sea is incredibly calm and clear. I also wandered around Caleta de Sebo, a tiny place that feels frozen in time with its white houses, sandy streets and quiet marina. Renting a bike on La Graciosa was one of my favourite decisions. Riding across those long desert paths with the mountains on one side and the ocean on the other felt like being completely alone on another planet. The beaches there are wild, full of volcanic rock and waves that break with a lot of strength. Even the cliffs look dramatic, shaped by the wind and the sea over years and years. All of these places made the trip feel like a real adventure, simple but unforgettable.

Estas fotos representan algunos de los momentos que más disfruté durante el viaje. Una la hice desde el mirador hacia La Graciosa, uno de los paisajes más impresionantes que vi. Desde allí arriba la isla parece completamente intacta, con esas formas volcánicas suaves y el pequeño pueblo junto al agua. Más tarde visité la playa de Papagayo, una cala escondida entre acantilados donde el mar es increíblemente tranquilo y transparente. También paseé por Caleta de Sebo, un lugar diminuto que parece detenido en el tiempo con sus casas blancas, sus calles de arena y un puerto muy tranquilo. Alquilar una bicicleta en La Graciosa fue de las mejores decisiones. Recorrer esos caminos largos y desérticos con las montañas a un lado y el océano al otro se siente como estar completamente solo en otro planeta. Las playas allí son salvajes, llenas de roca volcánica y con olas que rompen con mucha fuerza. Incluso los acantilados tienen una forma muy particular, moldeados por el viento y el mar durante años. Todos estos lugares hicieron que el viaje se sintiera como una auténtica aventura, sencilla pero inolvidable.

The tour through the volcanic area of Timanfaya was one of the most surreal parts of the whole trip. You get on a bus and suddenly you are surrounded by huge craters, red and black mountains and landscapes that look completely lifeless. It feels like being on another planet. During the route they stop to show how hot the ground still is under the surface. They pour water into a small opening and a few seconds later it shoots back up as steam with a huge sound. Inside the restaurant they use the natural heat that comes from the volcano to cook chicken over a grill that is literally placed on top of a volcanic vent. It is strange to see food being cooked this way, using the earth’s heat instead of fire. Walking around the area and seeing the shapes of the lava fields up close made me realise how powerful the eruptions must have been. It is one of those places that stays in your mind because nothing else looks like this.

La excursión por la zona volcánica de Timanfaya fue de las experiencias más surrealistas del viaje. Te subes a un autobús y de repente estás rodeado de cráteres enormes, montañas rojas y negras y un paisaje que parece completamente vacío. Es como estar en otro planeta. Durante el recorrido hacen una parada para enseñar lo caliente que sigue estando el suelo bajo la superficie. Echan agua en una abertura y a los pocos segundos sale disparada en forma de vapor con un estruendo impresionante. En el restaurante utilizan el calor natural que sube del volcán para cocinar pollo en una parrilla colocada directamente sobre una abertura volcánica. Es raro ver cómo se cocina así, usando el calor de la tierra en lugar de fuego. Caminar por la zona y ver de cerca las formas de los campos de lava te hace imaginar la fuerza que tuvieron aquellas erupciones. Es uno de esos sitios que se te quedan grabados porque no se parece a nada más.

The last days of the trip were much calmer and I spent more time just enjoying the places where I was staying. The hotel had this simple but charming design with white walls, blue details and a pool that looked over the marina. It was the kind of place where you wake up, step outside and immediately feel the light and the sea breeze. From there I visited the area of Famara, which became one of my favourite spots. The beach is huge, and the cliffs behind it create an incredible backdrop that changes depending on the light. Walking along the water with the reflections on the sand felt almost hypnotic. I also found a few quieter corners, like natural pools hidden between volcanic rock and small villages surrounded by cactus fields. They were places where I could slow down for a moment and just watch the landscape without thinking about anything else. These photos remind me of how peaceful those last days were and how easy it is to feel at home in Lanzarote even when you are travelling alone.

Los últimos días del viaje fueron mucho más tranquilos y me dediqué a disfrutar de los lugares donde me estaba alojando. El hotel tenía un diseño sencillo pero encantador con paredes blancas, detalles en azul y una piscina con vistas al puerto. Era el tipo de sitio donde te despiertas, sales fuera y enseguida notas la luz y la brisa del mar. Desde allí fui a la zona de Famara, que terminó siendo uno de mis lugares favoritos. La playa es enorme y los acantilados crean un paisaje impresionante que cambia según la luz. Caminar por la orilla con los reflejos en la arena fue casi hipnótico. También encontré rincones más tranquilos, como piscinas naturales escondidas entre roca volcánica y pequeños pueblos rodeados de campos llenos de cactus. Fueron lugares donde pude bajar el ritmo y simplemente observar el paisaje sin pensar en nada más. Estas fotos me recuerdan lo pacíficos que fueron esos últimos días y lo fácil que es sentirse a gusto en Lanzarote incluso viajando solo.
