🎨 Discovering Contemporary Art in Valencia | Hortensia Herrero Art Centre 📸

Today I want to share with you a visit to a contemporary art exhibition in Hortensia Herrero Art Centre, Valencia! 🎨

One of the things I enjoy about contemporary art is that you never know what you are going to find. From huge colourful installations hanging from the ceiling to abstract paintings full of textures and details, every room offers something completely different.

This exhibition was a combination of colours, light, geometric shapes and some very interesting artworks. Some of them really caught my attention, especially the way they interacted with the natural light and the architecture of the building.

I took quite a few photographs during my visit, so today I want to show you some of my favourite pieces. I hope you enjoy this little journey through contemporary art! 📸

The first thing that caught my attention was this incredible installation hanging from the ceiling. I really loved how the sunlight passed through the colourful transparent structures, creating different reflections and changing the colours depending on where I was standing.

I spent some time looking at all the little details and trying to capture the light with my camera. The combination of geometric shapes, bright colours and the architecture of the building was really interesting.

The next two artworks were completely different. The first one had a lot of textures, dark colours and golden details, almost like an old wall full of history. The second was much more minimalist, with hundreds of fine lines creating a repetitive pattern.

What I enjoy about contemporary art is exactly this contrast. You can go from an explosion of colours to something very simple in just a few steps. And sometimes, an artwork that looks quite simple from a distance becomes much more interesting when you get closer.

In the next rooms, I found more abstract paintings, including a very colourful one with bright pink, yellow and dark horizontal stripes. I really liked the contrast between these strong colours and the classical paintings decorating the ceiling. It was an interesting combination of modern and traditional art in the same space.

Another painting caught my attention because of its different layers of colours and very fine lines. The next artwork was completely different, with a dark background and what looked like small flowers scattered across the canvas. I especially liked its textures and all the little details.

Before continuing my visit, I stopped to take a photograph of one of the beautiful old windows. I loved the traditional ceramic tiles on the floor, the wooden frames and the view of the streets outside. Sometimes the building itself is as interesting as the artworks inside! 📸

One of the things I liked about this exhibition was the contrast between the artworks and the building itself. Just look at those beautiful ceilings! The old paintings, the arches and the circular opening with coloured glass were really impressive. I couldn't resist taking a few photographs looking up.

Continuing through the exhibition, I found some completely different artworks. One of them reminded me of a comic, with its strong outlines, geometric patterns and flowers. And then I came across a painting by Joan Miró, with a bright green background and those strange black shapes that are so characteristic of his work.

I have to admit that I don't always understand abstract art, but I enjoy looking at it and imagining what the artist wanted to express. And that's one of the reasons I like visiting these exhibitions: you can discover completely different artistic styles in the same afternoon! 📸

One of my favourite parts of the exhibition was definitely this incredible colourful tunnel! Walking through it was like entering another world, surrounded by hundreds of geometric shapes and bright colours. The reflections on the floor made it even more impressive. I also found a very interesting installation made of small mirrors that created a strange effect when you looked at yourself. Of course, I couldn't resist taking a few photographs!

Another artwork that caught my attention was a huge painting showing hundreds of tiny people running in different directions. I loved the contrast between the little colourful figures and the grey background with pink lines. There were so many details that I spent quite some time looking at it.

Finally, I explored another part of the building, where the colourful hanging sculptures looked beautiful against the old brick walls and the sunlight coming through the glass ceiling. My last photograph shows a white sculpture surrounded by a composition of colourful geometric shapes. A perfect way to finish this visit, full of very different artistic styles and some really surprising installations!

In the last part of my visit, I discovered another interesting installation with colourful horses projected onto a curved wall. It was something completely different from the paintings I had seen before, and I liked the feeling of movement created by the animals.

I also had the opportunity to admire the architecture of the building. From one of the upper floors, I enjoyed a beautiful view of the old rooftops and historic buildings of Valencia.

One of the most impressive artworks was a huge painting representing the interior of an abandoned industrial building. Its enormous size, perspective and golden details made it almost feel like I was standing inside the scene. I particularly liked how it looked in the long gallery, with its wooden ceiling and beautiful arched windows.

I also discovered a photograph showing what this part of the old palace looked like before its restoration between 2018 and 2023. Seeing the transformation of the building was a nice way to finish my visit. I really enjoyed how this place combines contemporary art with the history and architecture of Valencia!
