Diversión desde las alturas (Esp/Ing)

Desde que era niña, los zanqueros me han llamado la atención, sentía curiosidad por saber cuál era la magia que utilizaban algunas personas para crecer tan alto. Cuando descubrí el truco, más me impresionó por la habilidad que se requiere para mantener el equilibrio sobre dos listones muy largos. Nunca me he subido a unos zancos, pero debe sentirse muy bien observar desde las alturas, sobre todo, cuando mides un metro y medio 😂. La estatura que me dio mi genética no ayuda mucho, aunque estoy muy orgullosa de ser "Chaparrita", como cariñosamente me dice mi esposo.

Ever since I was a child, stilt walkers have caught my attention, I was curious to know what magic some people used to grow so tall. When I discovered the trick, I was most impressed by the skill required to balance on two very long slats. I've never been on stilts, but it must feel great to watch from heights, especially, when you're five feet tall 😂. The height my genetics gave me doesn't help much, although I am very proud to be "Chaparrita", as my husband affectionately calls me.

Ver a los zanqueros me parece todo un espectáculo. Algunos usan sus pinos para hacer divertidas marometas, sus trajes coloridos, rostros pintados y alegres, los hacen muy llamativos, sobre todo para los niños. En este punto, debo decir que el arte se concibe de muchas formas y, visto desde este ángulo, considero que el entrenamiento, la gracia y la puesta en escena de ciertos zanqueros podría aproximarse al arte asociada al teatro.

Watching the stilt walkers is quite a spectacle. Some use their pines to make funny marometas, their colorful costumes, painted faces and cheerful, make them very striking, especially for children. At this point, I must say that art is conceived in many ways and, seen from this angle, I consider that the training, grace and staging of certain stilt walkers could approach the art associated with theater.

La semana pasada caminé por la Plaza Bolívar de Cumaná, divisé a los zanqueros y no dudé, en acercarme. Estos alegremente jugaban y se tomaban algunas fotos con los transeúntes. Aproveché para capturar el momento, para mí se ha vuelvo importante disfrutar lo espontáneo y hacerlo inolvidable. Muchas veces, lo no planificado sale mejor. También debo confesar mi admiración por este grupo de jóvenes talentosos, quienes han aprendido a dominar muy bien los zancos, actividad que requiere de mucha pericia. No sé si algún día tenga la oportunidad de poder hacer esto. El tiempo lo decidirá. 😜

Last week I walked through the Plaza Bolivar in Cumana, I saw the stilt walkers and did not hesitate to approach. They were happily playing and taking some pictures with passers-by. I took the opportunity to capture the moment, for me it has become important to enjoy the spontaneous and make it unforgettable. Many times, the unplanned comes out better. I must also confess my admiration for this group of talented young people, who have learned to master the stilt walkers very well, an activity that requires a lot of skill. I don't know if one day I will have the opportunity to be able to do this. Time will decide. 😜
