Red Door is a bar near Parr St that used to be one of my favourite nightlife spots back in the late 1990s... yeah, I am getting long in the tooth ;-)

NQ64 is a great late-night bar with retro arcade machines, cyberpunk stylee graffiti and cheap beers.

The first thing of interest on Parr Street is this living wall someone has made on the side of a carpark. I'm not sure if this is strictly street art... it depends on what you define as art.

Crazy Pedros is one of my favourite late-night bars... staying open until 4 am on weekends. They do cheap and decent Mojitos, cheesy music and a great outdoor space.

El Bandito is a late-night tequila (and cocktail) bar... can you see a theme emerging ;-)

This piece of modern art has been there since the halcyon days of one of the first super-clubs, Cream.

The Roof is Liverpool's biggest rooftop beer terrace... great in the summer.

Parr Street - Studios, Bars and Street Art

The run-up to Christmas can be something of a pain in the proverbial... ass 😂

With the stresses of work, organising celebrations and dealing with relatives, sometimes it can be a good idea to turn one of the many Christmas chores into a fun activity. With this in mind, I set off to do my Xmas shopping a few days ago. As the grey clouds rolled in, and the rain spit-spotted the pavements, I decided to liven up the Xmas shopping chore by photographing some of Liverpool's best street art.

Living Walls, Christmas Shopping and Floating Balls

I've already photographed much of the street art in Liverpool and shared a lot of it on hive before, so initially, I was at a loss as to where to find some quality murals to photograph. Until I cast my mind back to many a hazy night out drinking, and then it hit me like the resurgence of memory the morning after the night before... Parr Street.

Parr street is a hidden gem in the heart of Liverpool. A back street that is home to a bunch of bars, a recording studio with a bar attached (which hosts poetry nights that I've performed at in the past) and a bunch of street art, mainly commissioned work.

The continuation of Parr street also used to be the site of one of the first super-clubs, Cream. As you near the far end of the road a congregation of giant balls hove into view, seemingly floating in the air until you notice the thin tentacles holding them up. It kinda looks like a psychedelic alien is surfacing from beneath the earth, and this modern art has been there since the halcyon days of the Cream nightclub.

I remember staring at these spherical appendages swaying against the lightening sky at 5 am one night well over ten years ago after seeing 'above and beyond' DJ at Cream and wondering if someone had spiked my drink 🤣

This street inspires many such memories of a misspent youth for me. But I have to admit that the street art on display on Parr street is more vibrant and impressive than it ever was in the past.

Well worth a look if you're visiting Liverpool.

Hi @idksamad78699

Yeah, it really is a great city for culture, music and art. Also Liverpool is a fantastic party city... lol you can easily chill with a few drinks until dawn most nights of the week 😂

Have more fun ahead of Christmas. Hopefully your preparations are already done.

It's pretty much all done now. My Xmas shopping all got done the other day when I took these pictures. Just the usual over-indulgences of eating and drinking left to do now, all the fun stuff 🙂

Thanks for checking out my post 👍
