Hello Hiver!

The photos I'm going to show you today were taken in recent days on the streets of Pinar del Río. I want you to see the reality of the people and the city.

  • In the cover photo (and in panoramic format (as is becoming customary), I took advantage of a piece of graffiti on a wall and waited for someone to walk right under it.

  • Many of the city's streets show the scars left by so many years of crisis and neglect.

  • With fuel shortages, animal-drawn vehicles are taking over the streets.

  • I was patient, very patient when I took the fourth photo. I waited for someone to walk right in front of that facade adorned with a flag.

  • Something that always catches my attention are the old cars. Unlike other places where they're practically museum objects, here their owners use them to earn a living and still manage to keep them in good shape.

  • The last photo was taken at a produce store. A slogan in the background and an old woman leaving with her empty bag. Could it be because of the prices?

Hola hiver!

Las fotos que hoy te voy a mostrar son hechas en los últimos días por las calles de Pinar del Río. Quiero que veas la realidad de la gente y de la ciudad.

  • En la foto de portada (y en formato panorámico (como se va haciendo costumbre), aproveché un graffiti de una pared y esperé a que pasara alguien justo por debajo.

  • Muchas de las calles de la ciudad muestran las heridas que van dejando tantos añ0s de crisis y de abandono.

  • Ante la escasez de combustible los transportes de tracción animal se adueñan de las calles.

  • Paciencia, mucha paciencia tuve cuando hice la cuarta de las fotos. Esperé a que pasara alguien justo delante de esa fachada adornada con una bandera.

  • Algo que siempre llama mi atención son los autos antiguos. A diferencia de otros lugares donde prácticamente son objetos museables, aquí sus dueños los usan para ganarse la vida y aún así se las arreglan para mantenerlos en forma.

  • La última foto fue tomada en un comercio de productos agrícolas. Un lema de fondo y una anciana que sale con su bolsa vacía. ¿Serán por los precios?
