Hello friends.

I've been meaning to write a post about one of the most popular and central buildings in my city. It's "El Comercio."

I'm not going to give you a history of the place; rather, I want to show the deplorable state it's been in for more than 30 years, according to my calculations.

• In the first photo, we see it from the front. As you can see, it has two floors, and in the center, there's a third that doesn't cover the entire building. The second floor housed rooms during its time as a hotel, while the ground floor housed various businesses.

• The second photo shows the balcony and what remains of the third floor.

• In the next image, you can see the balconies of the rooms that were destroyed by fire.

• This is followed by another photo of the rooms that survived that fire.

• This was the main entrance (it's currently walled up). From here, you could access a staircase that led to the upper floor.

You may have noticed the sad state of the premises. I know efforts have been made to restore it, but it has been in vain. I don't know the exact reasons. I don't know if it's a budget issue or technocratic constraints. Anyway, much more has been written about it than has been done.

Hola amigos.

Hace tiempo estaba por hacer una publicación sobre uno de los edificios más populares y céntricos de mi ciudad. Se trata de "El Comercio".

No voy a hacerles la historia del local, más bien quiero mostrar el lamentable estado en que se encuentra desde hace más de 30 años según mis cálculos.

• En la primera foto lo vemos de frente. Como se puede apreciar cuenta con dos plantas y en el centro hay una tercera que no cubre todo el edificio. En la segunda planta habían habitaciones en la etapa que se utilizó como hotel, mientras que en la planta baja habían diferentes comercios.

• En la segunda foto aparece el balcón y lo que quedade esa tercera planta.

• En la siguente imagen se ven los balcones de las habitaciones que fueron desrtruidas por un incendio.

• Le sigue otra fotografía de las habitaciones que sobrevivieron a ese incendio.

• Esa era la entrada principal (se encuentra tapiada actualmente). Por aquí se podía acceder a una escalera que conducía hacia la planta alta.

Habrás podido apreciar en triste estado en que se encuentra el local. Se que se han hecho esfuerzos para su restauración, pero ha sido en vano. Las causas las desconozco a ciencia cierta. No se si es un tema de presupuesto o de frenos tecnocráticos. En fin, sobre ello se ha escrito mucho más de lo que se ha hecho.
