Wildflower Season Has Arrived/La temporada de flores silvestres ha llegado

It is wildflower season after some rain and warmer weather. The above flower is very small, but thanks to a macro-lens, we can enjoy more of its essence. I look forward to taking photographs of these gems every year. They never cease to amaze me.

Since my last publication, I have taken a significant step toward retirement. I am working on moving out one of the disabled ladies but keeping the other person longer. I aim to move her out by June or July at the latest. The one I will have move out is a lot of work. She has cancer and was supposed to have died around 1.5 years ago. It is getting to the point where she needs more care than I can provide in the home. I do not have an issue with working with someone who is in the process of dying. I have cared for another lady who died five years ago. Plus, I was with my wife when she passed, holding my hand on her chest until her last heartbeat.

He cuidado a otra señora que murió hace cinco años.

My wife and I have cared for the disabled in our home for at least 30 years, and I have worked with the sick and/or disabled for over 50 years. To be honest, I am tired. I know dealing with the after-effects of COVID, and the passing of my wife so recently has left me tired. My health is improving, thankfully, and I am getting some good aerobic exercise daily. I have decided to take care of myself and put myself first. That is alien to me, but I am adjusting to the idea.

He decidido cuidarme y ponerme en primer lugar.

My wife and I made plans for our retirement. Much involved working in our wood-shop. When she was feeling well, she loved painting. She was working on a type of painting involving acrylics. I have been buying tools and equipment for my wood-shop and will return to building small crafts and other projects. Some of my power equipment has never been used. I will also get more involved with my photography. There are many other things for me to do. I have been limited with time to do most of those things.

I will share with you the progress I am making as I retire. Full retirement may take a while, but I will at least reduce the workload and stress.

I am going to share with you photographs of some more wildflowers. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

The following photograph is of the same wildflower as above but with a little different view.

The following two photographs are of a wildflower that is the first to bloom in the spring. Most of these wildflowers grew on land I gifted to my daughter. I was concerned that when they cleared a space for their house, I would lose the wildflowers. But there are still plenty of them, and my daughter and son-in-law will leave the areas they grow to maintain their natural habitat.

All of these wildflowers are small. Some are smaller than others. I can see details that I might otherwise miss without my macro-lens. The following two photographs show some wonderful pink and yellow that are difficult to see without the lens.

This brings us to the end of this publication. I trust you will find something in it that you enjoy. I am not going to set a schedule for publishing content. It will take time to move things to semi-retire by this summer and longer to retire fully. But I hope to continue publishing here on Hive. Thank you.

Gracias.

How nice to see again one of your posts about flowers. I always remember it from before with such beautiful and colorful photographs. I have really enjoyed these beautiful and well done images of wild flowers. I love to take pictures of this type of flowers because, among so much undergrowth one also gets beauty and that, I compare it with life and especially, with today's world that has become sometimes cold, agitated, unempathetic and also distant among those who inhabit the Earth.

I retired almost two years ago and I am really enjoying it a lot, especially because I am enjoying the freedom of being the owner of my time and doing what I like and before, because of my work schedule, I could not fully enjoy it. I have always admired your sense of solidarity and empathy for those around you. It was a pleasure to read it again and enjoy these beautiful images.

I leave you one of mine, of wild flowers in the undergrowth that have illustrated some of my publications. A hug from Venezuela! 🤗✨❤️

Namaste! Thank you. I have done all I can for the lady with cancer. Today I spoke with her caseworker, and she will try and move things forward quickly. I think it is evident how tired I am. In 2018 my wife was in a rehabilitation hospital for over three weeks due to early-stage kidney failure. My wife got past that issue, but when she came home, I became her care provider along with three disabled ladies. One of those ladies was dying of congestive heart failure. I had to close my private counseling practice down (which was good for me). By the time that lady passed away, I was extremely exhausted. I am not yet to that point and do not want to. So now that things are moving forward with moving this person to a place with better care, I feel a great emotional sense of relief.

I hope you find all these strength you need to keep pushing. It is very important to put yourself first. Even though you are taking care of people, don't stop looking after yourself. Well done

These flowers are beautiful too.

Thank you. I took the first step today of having the one lady move. Her caseworker is taking the initiative. I feel relieved. It will not be easy because she has been with us for 24 years, but her level of care needs has changed. Not to mention I know I cannot hold up to that level of care. They have a place for those with cancer where she will get better care than I can offer. I can also visit her.

@r2cornell...

For as long as I have known you... you have been the perfect example, in my opinion, of something we should all inspire to be. Supportive, caring, understanding... and yes... a positive force on our blockchain. As I read this, I am taken back to my years growing up; I was raised by my grandparents... I am sure I have mentioned this countless times. But it is relevant, as it is my way to express I do understand the things you are sharing, and saying. I tell everyone I know, who is struggling to try and balance a load of life and the blockchain... Take care of your bubble first.... everyone knows what you are going through. If not... then perhaps your worries are wasted on them. This is not to be rude or disrespectful... but I hope you know my meaning... I digress.

As always... your photography is beautiful... I would give a shout-out, to my dear friend @dswigle who among many things... created the #alwaysaflower tag, as well as the community of the same name...

She has been around for as long as you and I (since the days of the legacy chain) and is also one of the founders of the #teamusa Discord Server. I know you had mentioned you might not to be too active. But if anything... another positive tag to use in your posts. I hope you know how very appreciated, and loved, you are brother. I send you positive energy and vibes, in hopes that these decisions you are making, come out in the easiest ways possible. Thank you again... for being such an influential force on our blockchain!

It's quite amazing to read from someone who's dedicated 50 years of their life to being in he service of those who are less fortunate. Saints do live among us!

I am far from saintly; just another human working my way down the path before me. I have made many mistakes over those years. I know I have hurt people's feelings. I just try to keep improving myself and hopefully not repeat the mistakes from earlier years.

Sounds exactly like something a saint would say. 😉

Nobody in this world is perfect, even a saint. The constant aim to improve oneself is respectable and frankly, in my humble view, the ultimate human aspiration. Nobody in this world can ask for anything more.

Hi @r2cornell!! I remember you well and I am sorry to hear about your wife. I recall so many great mentions of her in your posts,

I got a not from you about teamusa, you might have had trouble getting in? I was away but when I answered it a couple of days later, you never answered back and then I got to wondering if you had problems with your account... anyway, I hope it was you. :)

#alwaysaflower is used more as a tag but, technically it is a community. There is a story about why it isn't run that way yet, but, I won't bore you. :)

Thanks for tagging me @wesphilbin ! You are so kind!

I wish I could remember sending you a note, but I probably did. So much has happened, and I have been tired for a long time. I felt a great relief earlier today when the caseworker said she would get things moving for me. I know this lady's family very well and was not sure I would hold up emotionally informing them of my decision and needs. So the caseworker will begin the process. I do not like the idea of this lady going into a place that deals with cancer patients and end-of-life issues. She is so low functioning she does not have a clue.

I would not let them send my wife to a similar facility, instead having them bring her home. She had been unconscious off and on for days while in the hospital. She woke up late the night she was home, so we spent a little time together. She could not speak but nod or shake it for "no." I held her hand for a while that night, but as with most of her body, her hands hurt to be touched. She pulled it away but later grasped my hand and held it. I gave her some liquid pain medicine that night, and she went unconscious or at least sleeping. She did not wake up after that. And the next day passed peacefully.

Not sure why I am writing all this...the lady with cancer is unaware of the process she has been going through. It may be that she will be okay going the route that is set forth. She is from a large family, and I am sure her siblings will try to visit her before she passes.

I will look at other posts using the #alwaysaflower tag. And keep it in mind when writing a post, seeing most of what I publish is related to flowers.

Peace

My heart hurts for you, it is impossible to heal yourself with so much going on around you. I think you have to trust that you have done the only thing you can do at this point, allow them to help this woman get placed in a facility. Her family will undoubtedly be there for her.

You have gone above and beyond what anyone in your position should have to do.

I cared for my dad until he left this world. A topic for another day, but, I couldn't let him be there, possibly alone when he left this world. I am glad you took your wife home. It is a tough decision for some. I know.

Again, I am so sorry about your wife. Please take good care of yourself!

Sometimes we can always be entertained by everything in nature, including the wild flowers that you show, sir.
It's something beautiful at a time when nature shows us after rain and summer.
It has been almost a month where we haven't rained, the grass has dried up and died and even the flowers in the garden have all withered with the very hot weather, and also the well water has almost dried up.

This pretty, tiny wildflower shot looks impressive using macros.

Reading of your 50 years of service to the disabled leaves me in absolute awe. There are no words that can express the extent of the impact you've made on people's lives throughout your time, and you are a prime example of someone who brings absolute value to those around you. The world is a better place for having you here. However, the world would also want you to take care of yourself, and it's great that you've started to do so gradually. Don't let your time be spent on things that are more arduous than you can handle; enjoy what time you have here. You've already given so much - YOU time is here. You've more than earned it. 😊

Thank you for your kind words. I had not realized how long I have spent working with the disabled until my wife passed. It is three months today. I have spent time contemplating the 36 years I was privileged to spend with her. Things were not always perfect but we worked through issues. It also came clear that 30 of the 36 years together, we were caring for the disabled in our home. Her health at the time was in the early stages of deteriorating. After we married, she started working with the disabled through my company and a non-profit company. It was her idea of taking people into our home. She was a loving person and cared for people and animals alike. Before I took over the care in 2018, she struggled to keep doing it, and I had to start helping a lot besides my own work.

Since her passing, I also have pondered on what our married life would have been like if we had not taken this path. I have no idea what it would have been like. I do try to imagine it. Doing what we did seemed right. It felt right. My wife was a beautiful woman physically, but more importantly, her inner self had great beauty. I recall in the months prior to her passing, she was upset about how worn out I was getting. I believe from where she is at, she is 100% supportive of what I am now doing. That gives me solace.

Forgive my ramblings. Sometimes I start writing and it keeps flowing out.

@r2cornell...

Ramble away! It serves no purpose, keeping everything inside. You should already know... sometimes, when you're holding all those dear souls up... you still need those you've brought along, to help lift you up...

Everyone needs to re-ground themselves sometimes!

It sounds like she also had quite a positive influence on the lives of other people. You should take solace in the fact that you're still going after your personal goals at this stage... indeed, you know your wife's wishes best, not to mention your own!

And no need to ask for forgiveness. The words you choose to write come from a place of experience and wisdom. Someone who chooses to read them may gather value and learn from you. Additionally, as I've come to realize from personal experience, writing out your thoughts can be a great way to process and digest information, as well as to reflect upon oneself. Please harbor no regrets for doing so!

He cuidado a otra señora que murió hace cinco años.

I like everything about this post.

I have decided to take care of myself and put myself first. That is alien to me, but I am adjusting to the idea.

A lot of us feel this way this days. But your positive and active approach, doing exercises to improved your life it's remarkable. You're remarkable. With such a recent lost and that job.. I'm blown away. I'm aware that people like you guys, taking care of dying people must exist is like, somebody has to do it right? But God I'm not that strong or put together. I'm really enjoying this blog. I'm new about blogging and I have no idea that could be such a warm concept.

With regard to flowers, I am always close to both purple and yellow. But I would say in this blog, the purple shot stands out. Thank you so much for the wonderful memories.
