Flowers to brighten our day/Flores para alegrarnos el día

I have been working on this publication for a while. I seem to have been having too many appointments. I finally saw an eye surgeon and have scheduled my surgery for the end of the month for one eye and in mid-June for the other. I should have had the surgery in 2021, but between dealing with the long-term effects of Covid, taking care of someone dying from cancer, and then my wife's health leading to her passing, I just could not squeeze it in.

Llevo un tiempo trabajando en esta publicación. Parece que he tenido demasiadas citas. Por fin he visto a un cirujano ocular y he programado mi operación para finales de mes para un ojo y a mediados de junio para el otro. Debería haberme operado en 2021, pero no he podido hacerlo entre los efectos a largo plazo del Covid, el cuidado de una persona que se estaba muriendo de cáncer y el fallecimiento de mi mujer.

My load is now easing up, and I have no choice. I have not been driving after dark, and during the daytime, I am having trouble seeing. I don't like surgery, but no vision outweighs that concern. I have also noticed some photos are not as clear as I would like. I always have some images I cannot use blogging, but now there are more. Peak flowering does not arrive until July, so my vision should be better by then.

Mi carga está disminuyendo y no tengo otra opción. No he estado conduciendo por la noche, y durante el día, estoy teniendo problemas para ver. No me gusta la cirugía, pero la falta de visión supera esa preocupación. También he notado que algunas fotos no son tan claras como me gustaría. Siempre tengo algunas imágenes que no puedo utilizar en el blog, pero ahora hay más. El pico de floración no llega hasta julio, así que mi visión debería estar mejor para entonces.

My cover photo is a close-up view of a beautiful pansy. The following photograph is a little different view of the same flower. Pansies do well in cooler weather, but if kept watered do okay as the temperatures heat up.

Mi foto de portada es un primer plano de un hermoso pensamiento. La siguiente fotografía es una vista un poco diferente de la misma flor. Los pensamientos crecen muy bien en climas fríos, pero si se mantienen regados lo hacen bien a medida que las temperaturas se calientan aquí.

Each year I grow a couple of geranium plants. I can sometimes take them into the garage for the winter. I could not take many flowers into the garage this past winter, so I bought new ones. The red is most commonly grown around here. I am sharing two different views of the flower here.

Cada año cultivo un par de plantas de geranio. A veces puedo llevarlas al garaje para pasar el invierno. El invierno pasado no pude meter muchas flores en el garaje, así que compré otras nuevas. El rojo es el que más se cultiva por aquí. Aquí comparto dos vistas diferentes de la flor.

I have two or three hyacinths growing. This purple one was wonderful to see this spring.

Tengo dos o tres jacintos creciendo. Este violeta fue maravilloso de ver esta primavera.

My final photograph is of some tulips I bought and placed in a container. I bought them after they had started to grow. I received other bulbs last fall, but because of everything that was going on, I forgot to plant them. I want to grow them in containers because rodents love to eat the bulbs during the winter. I still tried to grow the ones I received last fall, but they did not grow. I believe they need the cold of winter to begin to grow as the soil warms in the spring. I have yet to check, but I hope the bulbs are okay and I can get them chilled this winter.

Mi última fotografía es de unos tulipanes que compré y coloqué en una maceta. Los compré cuando ya habían empezado a crecer. Recibí otros bulbos el otoño pasado, pero me olvidé de plantarlos por todo lo que estaba pasando. Quiero cultivarlos en macetas porque a los roedores les encanta comerse los bulbos en invierno. Aún así, intenté cultivar los que recibí el otoño pasado, pero no crecieron. Creo que necesitan el frío del invierno para empezar a crecer mientras la tierra se calienta en primavera. Aún tengo que comprobarlo, pero espero que los bulbos estén bien y pueda refrigerarlos este invierno.

I have phobia for eye surgery because we don't have very good opthalmologist here in nigeria anymore. Bad governance has driven many of our experienced doctors abroad in search of greener pastures.

However, I admire the health system of the USA and wish you a successful surgery sir.

The photographed flowers on the other hand looks stunning and thank you for sharing them with us.

The surgeon who is going to do my eyes has a good reputation. I know at least 5 people that had him do the surgery. One had an infection and scar tissue besides a cataract. Saved her eyesight. The dr said he would give me meds to keep me calm and more during surgery if I let him know.

That is wonderful, it shows he knows how best to manage the process.
Please also pray before starting the surgery, God is the greatest healer.

Happy day friend, even if it is not to your liking, but if the operation will help you improve your vision and you already have it scheduled, you must do it very carefully not to do activities that you would usually do, such as driving, you must leave it to someone else

Thank you. Someone is lined up to do some extra work during my healing time. My daughter will drive me, and I have someone as backup.

I also grew swiss giant pansies this year in my garden but they couldn't bloom and the summer arrived. I was late while sowing their seeds. Your macro shots are really impressive.

Thank you in regards to the macro shots. Yes, pansies like the cooler weather. Mine are doing okay since the heat arrived, but our nights at this elevation are cold, which helps the pansies.

It was really good to catch up with you and chat today... These flowers are gorgeous, and your opening speaks volumes, to me... and hopefully others:

We struggle daily, with this thing called, "life". Some days... it's a walk in the park. Other times... not so much. But as long as I have known you, you have been a constant beacon of positive energy and support. Now... I say this, as I have known you for some time. But it is that old saying, "Actions speak louder than words", and I would not worry about the "amount" of content, as much as the power behind it. But then again... you already know that...


I have always loved being outside... more so, after I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis... My better half and I, use flowers as a way to get outside, get some sunshine... and re-ground ourselves. In doing so... I too, often shared photos of flowers rather than just words. Because sometimes (as you know) flowers can say, what we can not. Anyway, beautiful flowers brother. It's good to see you're still trying to fight the good fight... Here's to hoping your eye surgery goes smoothly, and your vision returns to (hopefully) what it was before. Hope you have a good start to your week...

I am surprised at how beautiful your flowers are and that you have made them grow yourself, you must have put too much care, love and dedication into it.

The names of the different flowers I did not in first sight even though I am familiar with a few, but as I kept on reading the blog, I got to know the names of those exotic flowers. Really beautiful.

Vision problem is a very common thing in old age. The eyes are the most precious organ in my opinion. I wish your eye surgery goes smoothly and you restore the best sight. Take care of your health, Sir, we really care for you. God bless you.
