Nine feathered friends captures from this summer

This post goes for 'Show me a photo (of a bird)' contest, round #143. Week's topic was 'Short-legged birds', and I decided that almost any, or even every, of my #birding photos will match... as I dont shoot nor flamingo, neither stork, heron or other wading birds... ostriches don’t spend the winter in our pampas either :)

There is this post in my drafts that I started on a leizure summer day, but never had time to finish. Guess these little birdies will match well. Enjoy!

So, this was captured this summer in one of my leizure days, -- half of which I filled with birdwatching. I was inspired to go out and find something new; for a while I considered which lens to put to my backpack - and in the end heaven sent me a hint that today I should take a 300mm telezoom. It really was sitting quietly on the shelf for a long while, collecting dust ... so I decided to take it out and shake the dust. I did not regret it.

I visited my usual local park -- the one with a huge pond and a known nesting spot for grebe ducks. Right at the I must say in brackets that all autumn and winter the park was "repaired", upgraded, tuned ... but in fact, they destroyed, spoiled, defiled - they dug up all the soil, freaks !!! it has become 10 times less pleasant place to walk. But I won't complain about it, at least not in this post.

Immediately at the entrance, I was greeted by a finch! And he was so busy with his own affairs that he didn’t even pay attention to me, didn’t fly anywhere, although he was two steps away from me - lol, I even had to move away, at the minimum focusing distance of my lens ...

White Wagtails - they remain out of reach for me (until I purchase a 500-600mm lens...) These birdies are too timid and shy, don’t want to pose, always stay frosty and on the move.

This is what I managed to capture from the usual ~3m distance.

Sparrows have a really short leggs... but they are not tiny.

Swan - has short legs, although they are not tiny, quite the opposite. This frame displays the swan's leg as if I'd asked him to show it. Nice coincidence! I liked it, and thats why decided to send it to the challenge. Its not often that I have options to shoot swans in my city.
