old gadget probation .:. EN/RU
This is a post to go with #ReflectionHunters challenge, Round 134
I've been shying away from entering the competition for quite some time, but last week I took some pictures from the children's festival that I thought were wonderful. And I couldn’t help but share them with all the Hiveans.
Довольно долго я уклонялся от участия в конкурсе, но на прошлой неделе сделал несколько картинок с детского фестиваля, которые мне кажутся чудесными. И я не мог не поделиться ими со всеми хивеанцами.
The festival was dedicated to children's creativity (the program included painting with paints, pencils, mops on the floor (!), playing the ukulele, creating a cartoon, laying out a large fresco from pieces of smalt, creating masks, printing images using potatoes, and much more.. .) real creativity! An honest post will follow (and more than one).
When we bought our ticket and headed towards the locker room to undress and get rid of our backpacks, the first thing we saw was an Old Typewriter. It was placed in a dark place (unfortunately), a corner with poor lighting, so it limited my ability to take good photos.
However, the temptation was great! and not only with us, many children stopped nearby to get acquainted with a gadget unknown to them... the gadget contained buttons with letters - children already understand what letters are - and when pressed it created an interesting analog effect. Unfortunately, this is a really old technique, and in order to function, it requires the same old consumables, namely, a cloth ink ribbon. Without tape, the machine worked “idle” - that is, it made noise and moved the keys, but did not print anything.
Фестиваль был посвящен детскому творчеству (в программе было рисование красками, карандашами, швабрами на полу (!), игра на гавайской гитаре, создание мультфильма, выкладывание большой фрески из кусочков смальты, создание масок, печать изображений при помощи картофеля, и многое другое...) настоящий креатив! Честный пост еще последует (и не один).
Когда мы купили билет, и двинулись в направлении раздевалки чтобы раздеться и избавиться от рюкзаков, первое что мы увидели, была Старая Печатная Машинка. Она была поставлена в темном месте (к сожалению), уголок с плохим освещением, поэтому это сузило мои возможности по созданию хороших фотографий.
Однако соблазн был большой! и не только у нас, многие дети останавливались рядом, чтобы познакомиться с неизвестным для них гаджетом... гаджет содержал кнопки с буквами - дети уже понимают, что такое буквы - и при нажатии создавал интересный аналоговый эффект. К сожалению, это действительно старая техника, и для своего функционирования она требует таких же старинных расходных материалов, а именно - красящей матерчатой ленты. Без ленты машинка работала "вхолостую" - то есть, производила шум, движение клавиш, но ничего не печатала.
Moreover, while poking at the keys, many children (the majority!) had no idea what the result should be and simply played with it as if it were an interesting toy. In the first photo you can see that there is not even a sheet of paper inserted into the typewriter - without paper the machine cannot print anything either. Later, I found a suitable piece of paper and helped the children, explaining how the machine works, and how it should be used, and what result we should “theoretically” get.
Более того, тыкая в клавиши, многие дети (большинство!) не подозревали, какой результат должен получиться, и просто играли с ней, как с интересной игрушкой. На первом фото вы видите, что в пишущую машинку даже не вставлен лист бумаги - без бумаги машинка тоже ничего не может напечатать. Позже, я нашел подходящий листок бумаги и помогал детям, объясняя как машинка устроена, и как ей надо пользоваться, и какой результат мы должны были бы получить "теоретически".
Colossal fun, as you can see from the photo. The children simply stood in line to poke at the typewriter... and by the way, the biggest fun for them was to poke it with both palms at once - to press the maximum number of keys: in this case, the typewriter was producing the most interesting effects ;=)
Забава как вы видите по фото - колоссальная! Дети просто становились в очередь, чтобы потыкать в печатную машинку... и кстати говоря, самая большая забава была для них - тыкнуть сразу ладонью, а еще лучше обеими ладонями, сразу в максимальное число клавиш: в этом случае машинка производила самый интересный эффект!

I remember playing with an old typewriter as a child, it gave me many days and hours of fun! Great photos!
Grazie! Photos are ... technically, lets say: so-so, due to poor lighting. But they do capture the fun! and it will be a good memory. In my high school days I even obtained a typewriter! and spent some time with it, trying to "print books" (in 2-3 copies, haha). That device was n that good, but at least I had this experience in my teen years - nowadays most of kids poke only a touchscreen... ehehe.

That's great! I can think of some older 'children' in their 20s who would also find it quite novel and fun!
They need more 'analogue reflections' as an extra to their digital experience, ... which is stealing a lot of fun from them. Typewriter is a great gadget, actually!
Especially if it is a splendid vintage one, like this Mercedes I found at a flea market, not something er... poorly-trivially-made, lets put it like that.

Yes, it looks like that, but I don't have it. I think mother gave it to someone, or she has it in the attic, I don't remember but they made a lot of noise hehe

Ну конечно, для ребёнка. Для взрослых сейчас есть совсем другие игрушки-шалабушки.
У меня в последние 3 класса школы была похожая - я сам себе купил электрическую, какое-то уродское поделие советской промышленности. Но тогда время такое - если хоть что то можешь купить, уже надо радоваться.

Привет ) я возвращался в Россию - через 7 дней вылетаю в Тай где проведу пол года. Уверен что будет о чем написать - но не судите строго, языковой барьер не дает разгуляться мысли. Переводчик выдает какую-то абракадабру, что даже стыдно такое выкладывать. А вот фото точно будет много!
я хотел тебя законтачить с @x-rain,= он хороший человек, и фотограф, и вообще "думающая голова". жил в Тае порядочно, и сейчас там, если что наверняка сможет помочь каким-то опытом, знанием местных реалий. и никакого яз.барьера - наш человек!

@russia-btc, привет!) Я тут бываю подолгу с каких-то пор, хотя не знаю, какой особо полезный опыт наработался в связи с этим 🙂, обычно в Бангкоке нахожусь. В этом году - с января с перерывом на Лаос. Сегодня, правда, выезжаю во Вьетнам на пару месяцев - виза заканчивается, да и развеяться будет полезно.
Рад знакомству - Я обычно в Паттайе, но в Бангкок тоже планирую - обязательно у тебя спрошу, что стоит там посетить!

Its sad they had no fresh ink band and paper for the Kids. I remember spending hours typing patterns and little picture when I was a child.
In my first workplace those we're still used! 🙂
A bit sad, yeah... this way the fun become incompleted, corrupted, they not became educated about it properly, what is it doing. Now they only getting the keys response -- without the printed letters, and ..... damn, where we can obtain the ink stripe today?... absolutely no idea... !LUV

This made me remember when I was taught how to make use of the typewriter in high school.

Арифмометры кстати можно купить, не трудно, на барахолке я их вижу в количестве. Но как с ними работать - тут уж я ни одному ребенку помочь и объяснить не смогу нифига, сам не шарю ))))
