Orange Jelly Fungi From Stony Brook State Park In Western New York
I went up to Stony Brook State Park in Western New York this weekend with my sweetie, our special place, where we try to visit every year❤️
We rent a small, rugged cabin to stay in, but it is more like camping, as there is not power inside the structure.
There is a beautiful gorge trail and several waterfalls, which I will post elsewhere, but the Photographs I share here today are of the fungus variety, as this is the fungi lovers group of course! I just had to snap some pics to share because we spotted some funky orange crumblies on top of this stump!
My quick search of "Orange Jelly Fungus" leads me to believe that it is indeed dacrtmyces palmatys, or...."orange Jelly fungus" as it's commonly known. Boy, sometimes you can just guess what it is by sight, I suppose!

Here's a few close-ups
And some external shots of this funky stump!... And a few other ones I saw on the journey.
What do you think? Did I miss out on a wooded delicacy by not eating this? It appears there are mixed opinions on whether it is edible or not...
Thanks for checking out my post!

Great shots. Its as if you can smell that rich air.
... It was amazing! So much peace and quiet after the weekend traffic left the park too. I already got out to the west Virginia Mountains this year, which had air that was probably even better!
