Siempre me ha sorprendido la forma en que la naturaleza siempre te da razones para agradecer hasta en lo más profundo de las sorpresas, cuando ellas vienen a la sala de tu casa... Suena como tautológico lo que acabo de escribir, pero es la mera verdad sentida en ese instante.
Pero bien... Donde hábito hace frío y estoy al borde de la montaña, diría como explorador y montañista, al borde de pie de monte, donde una arboleda de pinos da la bienvenida a todo aquel que desea caminar por la montaña, haciendo senderismo.
Es un lugar donde el viento fuerte se transforma en un susurro constante debido a que la clase de pino que hay, genera un sonido desestresante por su tipo de hojas como púas largas... Un sonido como un silbido suave.

En fin, digo esto para contextualizar que vivo en un barrio que esta cercado por un bosque de pinos y que allí habitan innumerables insectos y animales interesantes. Además de una variedad de orquídeas silvestres hermosas.
Los cierto es que estando leyendo un libro en la sala de la casa, me sorprendí ver un cien pies... Wow! Que tremenda sorpresa! Y no me canso de decirlo, ya que no es nada común un Insecto de ese tipo en la casa... en medio de la sala.
He visto culebritas y escorpiones, pero nunca había visto un cien pies en casa. Lo había visto en una excursión que hice hace algunos años atrás cuando era estudiante, y para ese entonces no contaba con teléfono ni cámara.

I've seen snakes and scorpions, but I've never seen a hundred-footer in the house. I had seen it on a field trip a few years ago when I was a student, and at that time I didn't have a phone or camera.

No con esto quiero decir que debemos matarlos, todo lo contrario, atraparlos y liberarlos en otro sitio acorde donde puedan continuar con su vida, pues cumplen con una función reguladora dentro de su ecosistema por ser un depredador carnívoro de otros insectos. He visto videos donde luchan con serpientes y son lo bastante agresivos como para tenerles respeto.

Es bueno aclarar que este tipo de insectos es venenoso, no letal, pero su picadura es muy dolorosa, cuenta con una mordedura fuerte. Y como todo Insecto, no es agresivo, y solo lo es cuando se siente amenazado.
Sin embargo, puede ser peligroso para aquellas personas que tienen algún tipo de alergia.
