Sacred Halls - Freestyle Collage [EN | DE]

In the decaying halls of our schools, the plaster crumbles like forgotten dreams, and teachers voices fade away in the dust of empty desks.
Knowledge, once the beacon of civilization, fades into indifference, while children become shadows, unable to weave the threads of our society.
Decay eats its way through the very foundations until barbarism bursts through all the gates â our world a pile of rubble made of unlived potential, not long until then.
So I would like to dare to rub my humble artistic tribute to the schools very discreetly under your nose.

Tausend Dank fĂŒrs Reinschauen! :-)
In den verfallenden Hallen unserer Schulen bröckelt der Putz wie vergessene TrÀume,
und Lehrerstimmen verklingen im Staub der leeren BĂ€nke.
Wissen, einst Leuchtfeuer der Zivilisation, erlischt in GleichgĂŒltigkeit, wĂ€hrend Kinder zu Schatten werden, unfĂ€hig, die FĂ€den der Gesellschaft zu weben.
Der Zerfall frisst sich in die Grundfesten, bis die Barbarei alle Tore sprengt â unsere Welt, ein TrĂŒmmerhaufen aus ungelebten Potenzialen wird.
So will ich wagen, dir meinen bescheidenen, kĂŒnstlerischen Tribut an die Lehre, völlig diskret unter die Nase zu reiben.
About my collage
Sacred halls â these are not so much temples of worship, altars of bloody sacrifices, or throne halls of gilded tyrants.
It is the chambers of knowledge and learning, where sparks of curiosity blaze into flames, where voices from dust and parchment break the chains of darkness.
After all, no god has ever built a bridge of light, no angel mapped the stars, no king pushed the boundaries of possibility for us.
Between shelves of oak and iron, between ink stains and tattered books, humanity was and is born, again and again.
So shouldn't we enter these sacred halls only with the utmost reverence, in devotion to all those who researched, wrote, taught, and grew there before us? Shouldn't they be at least as sacred to us as our temples of faith and those of consumption?
My inspiration for this collage was a press article about the decay of our schools.
As you can probably tell from this text, it really pissed me off. :-D
Ăber meine Collage
Heilige Hallen â Das sind nicht unbedingt die Tempel der Andacht, nicht die AltĂ€re blutiger Opfer, nicht die ThronsĂ€le vergoldeter Tyrannen.
Es sind die Kammern des Wissens und des Lernens, wo Funken der Neugier zu Flammen lodern, wo Stimmen aus Staub und Pergament die Ketten der Dunkelheit sprengen.
Immerhin hat kein Gott je eine BrĂŒcke aus Licht geschlagen, kein Engel die Sterne kartiert, kein König die Grenzen des Möglichen, fĂŒr uns, verschoben.
Zwischen Regalen aus Eichen und Eisen, zwischen Tintenflecken und zerfledderten BĂ€nden, wurde und wird die Menschheit geboren, wieder und wieder.
Sollten wir diese heiligen Hallen daher nicht nur mit allergröĂter Ehrfurcht betreten, in Andacht all jener, die vor uns dort forschten, schrieben, lehrten, und wuchsen? Sollten sie uns nicht mindestens so heilig sein, wie unsere Tempel des Glaubens und die des Konsums.
Meine Inspiration zu dieser Collage, war ein Zeitungsartikel, ĂŒber den Zerfall unserer Schulen.
Wie man hieraus eventuell lesen kann, hat mich das ĂŒbelst pikiert. :-D

These are the materials I have made use of to create my collage. Additionally to Photo Bashing, I also painted some details myself (shadows, lights, ...).
For the work on the collage I only used the open source image editor GIMP.

Materialien

What is LMAC?
LMAC is a great community for artists of all skill levels. The name of the community is an abbreviation and stands for "Let's make a collage".
Just take a look. Even if you think you are not an artist, LMAC will probably prove you wrong.

Are you a good photographer and would like to contribute some nice good quality photos in exchange for good votes and tribute?
We are currently building our own photo/image library that we can use as a image source for our collages, but also every Hiver beyond LMAC is very welcome to use the images in it.

Since we have enough sheep all around, I decided to add a Llama and an Alpaca. Very clever creatures! :-D
I completely agree that they are brilliant creatures. But they are still sheep :)
However, you have wrapped them in wisdom in an excellent way.
I love how each piece fits together so well with the whole, and that warm scene reminds me so much of the painting of the School of Athens. It's wonderful, and yes, it's outrageous :D
