About my collage
Saturday we had a nice little neighbourhood party in our street.
There was kettle meat, funny and interesting conversations and, of course, delicious beer. But most delicious of all were the neighbours themselves.
Within my actual friends bubble, I would never have the opportunity to meet people like you can at a neighbourhood party. And I always find that extremely interesting.
There was one of my neighbours that I found particularly interesting that evening. A very richly adorned, polo-shirt-wearing, always nice-smelling middle-aged man. He keeps his Porsche key close at hand and his teeth seem to be made of the finest Carrara marble.
He changes women like he changes his underwear, but remains so true to his style that I have accidentally called his new girlfriends by the names of their predecessors several times.
All of them are at least as richly adorned as he is. They all have their lips pumped up with the same amount of air pressure and have the same hairdresser. They all even share his exclusive taste for fine goldsmithing.
I watched him and his new adored one intensely again at this neighbourhood party. And I imagined how he and his ladies used to get together.
Well, these thoughts became this collage in the next step. :-)
Über meine Collage
Am Samstag war hatten wir in unserer Straße ein kleines Nachbarschaftsfest.
Es gab Kesselschmorfleisch, lustige und interessante Gespräche und natürlich leckeres Bier. Das Köstlichste, war aber natürlich die Nachbarschaft selbst.
Innerhalb meiner eigentlichen Freunde-Blase, hätte ich nie die Gelegenheit, Menschen kennen zu lernen, wie man sie auf Nachbarschaftstreffen kennen lernen kann. Und das finde ich immer wieder äusserst interessant.
Einen meiner Nachbarn fand ich an diesem Abend ganz besonders interessant. Ein sehr reich beschmückter, Polo-Hemd tragender, immer wohlduftender Mann mittleren Alters. Den Porsche-Schlüssel hat er immer im Anschlag und Zähne aus allerfeinstem Carrara-Marmor, so scheint es.
Er wechselt die Frauen wie seine Unterwäsche, bleibt dabei aber derart stiltreu, dass ich seine neuen Freundinen schon mehrfach versehentlich mit dem Namen der jeweiligen Vorgängerin ansprach.
Diese sind stets mindestens so reich beschmückt wie er selbst. Sie lassen sich ihre Lippen alle mit der selben Luftdruckstärke aufpumpen und gehen zum selben Friseur.
Und sie teilen sogar seinen exklusiven Geschmack um feine Goldschmiedekunst.
Ich habe ihn und seine neue Verehrteste auch auf diesem Nachbarschaftsfest wieder intensiv beobachtet. Und ich stellte mir vor, wie er und seine Damen es pflegen, zusammenzufinden.
Nun, aus eben diesen Gedanken, wurde im nächsten Schritt diese Collage. :-)

These are the materials I have made use of to create my collage. Additionally to Photo Bashing, I also painted some details myself (shadows, lights, ...).
For the work on the collage I only used the open source image editor GIMP.

Materialien
Dies sind die Materialien die ich zum Erstellen meiner Collage verwendet habe. Zusätzlich zum Photobashing, habe ich auch Details selbst gemalt (Schatten, Lichter, ...).
Ich habe für die komplette Arbeit an der Collage, das open source Bildbearbeitungsprogramm GIMP verwendet.

What is LMAC?
LMAC is a great community for artists of all skill levels. The name of the community is an abbreviation and stands for "Let's make a collage".
Just take a look. Even if you think you are not an artist, LMAC will probably prove you wrong.

We are currently building our own photo/image library that we can use as a image source for our collages, but also every Hiver beyond LMAC is very welcome to use the images in it.

I spent a lot of time (years!) analyzing literature. That was my graduate specialty. I learned how to tease out symbolic representations in literary works. I learned how to distinguish the specious, superficial attempts from meaningful attempts.
Your collage demonstrates how one can use meaningful symbolic representations visually. It is emotive (I can see how you 'felt' the concepts as you worked them out), and intellectual (there is a plan that is evident to the viewer, especially since you have offered insight).
This is perfectly wonderful. A masterpiece of communication and emotional effect. I can almost feel the vanity of your 'friend', the shallowness of his perpetual chase.
A really great job, and wonderful to see the comic effect you give the young man who is 'fishing'.
I loved the concept of your art and the color palette you used. It was phenomenal!!
