A Temple by The Sanur Beach

avatar

My family and I went to a temple in Sanur Beach, Bali, on the last Saturday. It was a three-hour-drive my place from the west of Bali. We went to the temple to attend a religious ceremony that take place every 210 days.

The temple was located about 100 meters away from the beach, so my family and I planned visit the beach afterwards.

Arriving on the road near the temple, there were many motorcycles parked by the road side. Seemed that many people have visited the temple before us.

Some already finished their prayer and headed back (to their home, maybe?). We walked toward the temple gate, and saw many people were already in the temple. They were all dressed in traditional Bali uniform.

The priest sprinkled holy water on us as sign of blessing, and we finished our prayer. My daughter stayed outside the temple and did not join the the prayer, because she had her "monthly guest" coming. We met her again afterwards and then together we walked to the beach.

We started walking from the temple on the road that lead us to the beach. Along the road there were few street vendors who sell satay and rice cakes. There were also the toy sellers.

We frequently visited Sanur Beach when we live in Denpasar (located 10 minutes away). This visit was the first visit after about two years. I saw few changes. A restaurant was built just facing the beach, with tables and chairs on the sand. It was not there before.

We walked towards the water. There were few boats parked on the calm water on the beach. I remember swimming (not that very well), and playing in the beach with my wife and kids along with hundreds of other people.

It was still look the same with what I remember. It just that the restaurant seemed to block the way for the motor cycles to park near the beach. I was not that sure if there were less people visit this place because of this.

Anyway, we spent few minutes by the beach remembering the good times we had before in the beach.
