My first trip to Cancun, Mexico: Isla Mujeres
Doing a file cleanup on my son's computer (which used to be mine), I discovered many photographs of a trip we took to Cancun in 2016, my brother, my sister-in-law, my son and me. They were such beautiful days. The trip was given to us by my brother because he is my son's godfather and because it was also my son's birthday month. My brother, his wife, my son and I went on this trip.
We visited several iconic and touristic places in Cancun and one of them is Isla Mujeres.
Isla Mujeres is one of the municipalities belonging to the State of Quintana Roo, in the Yucatan Peninsula. The tour guides recommended us that the perfect stay to get to know the town well and enjoy its charms, should be at least a two-day stay, but the plan my brother had paid for was one day, since we already had lodging in another hotel.
Haciendo una limpieza de archivos en la computadora de mi hijo (que antes era mía), descubrí muchas fotografías de un viaje que hicimos a Cancún en el año 2016, mi hermano, mi cuñada, mi hijo y yo. Fueron días tan hermosos. El viaje nos lo regaló mi hermano porque es padrino de mi hijo y porque además era el mes de cumpleaños de mi hijo.
Visitamos varios lugares icónicos y turísticos de Cancún y uno de ellos, es Isla Mujeres.
Isla Mujeres es uno de los municipios pertenecientes al Estado de Quintana Roo, en la península de Yucatán. Los guías turísticos nos recomendaban que la estadía perfecta para conocer bien el pueblo y disfrutar de sus encantos, debía ser de al menos una pernocta de dos días, pero el plan que había pagado mi hermano era de un día, pues ya teníamos hospedaje en otro hotel.
It is a beautiful town with narrow streets and stores for the delight of tourists for souvenir shopping.
Es un pueblo precioso con calles estrechas y sus tiendas para el deleite de los temporadistas para la compra de souvenirs.
This town can be reached by sea. It has no land access. It is reached by ferry and the trip by sea takes approximately 30 minutes. Upon arrival, you get that lighthouse welcoming tourists.
A este pueblo se llega por mar. No tiene acceso terrestre. Se llega en Ferry y el trayecto marítimo dura aproximadamente 30 minutos. Al llegar, te consigues con ese faro dando la bienvenida a los turistas.
In town, golf cart-like carts are rented for four people for a tour of the island, guided by a main cart that goes ahead with a tour guide.
En el pueblo, se alquilan unos carritos parecidos a los carros de golf, para cuatro personas para hacer un recorrido por la isla, guiados por un carrito principal que va adelante con un guía turístico.
You can see that after the red cab in the photo, there is the tour guide's cart with two ladies and further back, just in front of the red cab, is me with my sister-in-law. My brother, who took the photo, is in the cart further back with my son.
Puede verse que después del taxi rojo en la foto, está el carrito del guía turístico con dos señoras y más atrás, justo delante del taxi rojo, estoy yo con mi cuñada. Mi hermano, quien tomó la foto, va en el carrito más atrás con mi hijo.
One of the most visited places on Isla Mujeres is the National Fishing Institute, where they have a sea turtle hatchery.
Uno de los lugares más visitados de Isla Mujeres, es el Instituto Nacional de la Pesca, ya que tienen allí un criadero de tortugas marinas.
The truth is that this island is delightfully charming. Each place has its history, the food is exquisite, the treatment for tourists makes you want to stay there more than to come back. They made us feel at home.
La verdad es que esta isla es sencillamente encantadora. Cada lugar tiene su historia, la comida es exquisita, el trato para los turistas hace que uno más que volver, quiera quedarse allí. Nos hicieron sentir como en casa.
This is an island rich in history, when I was coming across the sea, little by little I felt like I was transported to a place full of magic, of beauty, where you could breathe an incomparable air; the feeling was definitely wonderful.
Este es una isla rica en historia, cuando iba llegando a través del mar, poco a poco sentí como era transportada a un lugar lleno de magia, de belleza, donde se podía respirar un aire inigualable; la sensación era definitivamente maravillosa.
In this stand with its thatched roof, the zip line is practiced and the people who practice it, fall directly into the sea. That day, they were not doing this activity.
En este puesto con su techo de paja, se practica la tirolina o tirolesa y las personas que lo practican, caen directo al mar. Ese día, no estaban realizando esa actividad.
To end our tour, we ended up at this restaurant where the view is spectacular and what you can see in front, across the sea, is the city of Cancun. But the sky played a dirty trick on us and decided to turn gray all of a sudden. In front, it was raining in Cancun.
Para finalizar nuestro recorrido, terminamos en este restaurante donde la vista es espectacular y lo que se puede ver al frente, cruzando el mar, es la ciudad de Cancún. Pero el cielo nos hizo una mala jugada y decidió ponerse gris de repente. En frente, en Cancún estaba lloviendo.
