Dollar came into our lives at a time when it was needed. My niece suffers from fibromyalgia and as everyone knows, that disease is very painful.

The most common symptoms begin with pain throughout the body, extreme tiredness, stiffness in the joints; difficulty concentrating. This leads of course to depression and anxiety. The hands become numb, feel a tingling in them, as when we say "my hand fell asleep" and it is difficult to move it. It also generates burning and chills especially in arms and legs. Sometimes medications do not have an immediate effect.

Walking from the living room to the kitchen causes extreme pain and fatigue. This makes her cry and feel very sad and helpless.

My brother-in-law (her dad), was reading that puppies help a lot to heal emotionally during the fibromyalgia process. So he decided to adopt a puppy.

Dolar is a puppy that came into our lives, suffering from parvovirus, which is a disease that affects the kidneys and is usually lethal.

When Dollar was adopted, we were told that it was very likely that he would not reach six months of age, but Dollar is now one year old and healthy, perfect. Nobody wanted to adopt Dollar because of his illness, but when my niece found out about this, she wanted to adopt him immediately. He received the necessary treatments and love for him to survive and now he is a healthy puppy full of life. He is playful, happy and loving.

And if that wasn't enough, my niece's fibromyalgia symptoms have diminished quite a bit. She follows a treatment based on medication, diet and low impact exercises and yoga.

This, and the love for Dollar, has worked miracles in her life. Dollar changed her life and she, with her love, changed Dollar's destiny.
