A lovely and sunny weekend
There are moments in life when we feel so saturated by the day to day, by the responsibilities, by work, school work, the economic situation, in short....
And we get in a bad mood, stress takes over us and we are on the verge, at the slightest provocation, we explode. We are a walking time bomb.
After a Friday gathering at my sister's house because we were watching movies and having drinks, on Saturday I woke up wanting to go to the beach. My son didn't want to go with me because he had his activity with the Boy Scouts. So without further ado, I took my car and went to the beach with a great friend, but not before asking my brother to go pick up my son when he got out of his activity, because I didn't know what time I would be back.
So we were welcomed by the beach, with a beautiful, sunny day. At first I felt a little guilty that my son was missing out on this beauty, but my friend told me that he was also having a fun day with his buddies and that I should just enjoy my first day without my son.
We went to Los Angeles beach, in La Guiara. The trip takes a little over an hour. This beach has low waves and is very clean. The food there is delicious and we were able to sit in front of the sea. We rented two chairs with a table and an awning. We spent the day quietly, relaxed, getting away from the city. Away from the noise of horns and crazy motorized vehicles.
I can say that we were happy. I'm not one of those who spends the day lying in the sun to get a tan. In fact, I take good care of myself with a good sunscreen. What I do do is get in the water for a while, swim, float on my back in the water, letting the water carry me back and forth, and get out of the water when my toes are completely wrinkled. I enjoy it more that way.
We ate a dish based on shrimp in white sauce that they sell there. A true culinary delight, we drank beers, talked a lot and laughed at different anecdotes.
When the evening was beginning to fall, we decided to stay a little longer to enjoy those golden hours that the sky gives us.
I really needed this day. So did my friend Mariana, who is also divorced, with three children and a lot of work. Mariana also left her children with their grandmother and we were able to have this necessary and delicious getaway. It was our girls' day out, which we had not enjoyed for more than seven years.
We returned home refreshed, happy and ready to face the challenges of the new week. Yesterday, after getting up after nine in the morning, making breakfast for me and my son, who had many things to tell me about his activity, it was a day of cleaning the house, washing clothes, changing sheets and washing towels. I did it singing. The only thing I was missing was the little animals singing with me, like in Cinderella. I had happiness on the edge.
Days like these are the ones that bring us smiles of gratitude, smiles of peace, of relaxation. More after so long without going to the beach and even more, being, in my case, the first time in thirteen years that I go to the beach without my son.
I was worried about him, feeling guilty for not taking him and he didn't even care. This makes me understand that he is grown up and will depend less and less on me.
This day was worth it. Thanks.
