Today's aquatic plant is called Barankha. It is an aquatic weed plant. It can be seen on the banks of the Howr Bill in the villages of Bengal. An international paper has identified this flower as endangered. Barankha is basically an aquatic herbaceous plant with aerial stem.

It has medicinal properties, roots are used for stomach problems and liver problems. It is used for scabies. Root juice is very effective in toothache and stem bark in asthma.
