Lago di Dobbacio, A Quiter Lake in the Dolomites in Italy 🇮🇹

A quieter lake in the Dolomites with stunning mountain scenery, a cafe, some wild birds and a nice circular walk.

Lakes and Lakes were on the list for our Dolomites tour, however, as you can expect that's on everyone's minds and even out of season the main tourist lakes are heaving.

We were debating about trying Lago di Braires, which seems to be the most popular but on the drive down we saw how many cars and buses and thought no we'll give it a miss, despite only being a short 10 minute drive away.

The evening before we had already looked at alternatives in case it was too busy as found Lago Di Dobbacio. I parked the Van and made our way to the walk where we treated with a view of the restaurant with the backdrop of mountains and the forefront of a blue/green lake.

The lake is at 1117 metres above Sea Level which is pretty high! So as you can imagine the water is cool but the air is warm when its shining!

We walked for around an hour at a leisurely pace and stopped off for a GeoCache along the way. We heard woodpeckers and Jay's as well the Swans and I think Coots which were on the lake.

Lino enjoyed the walk too, we didn't let him off for a Swim though as the wild birds but he did love a paddle at the Waters edge.
