When my painters friends invited me to join them in a plein-air (painting outside session) in the small fishing base of the Havana town of Casa Blanca, I already imagined that I was going to like the experience, since the sea is one of the places I enjoy the most, while they joked about who was going to do more work that day I laughed and showed them my camera, I was sure it was me hahahahahaha.😂

The place is very interesting, it is a really poor fishing base, where the fishermen build their boats with their own hands and the scarce resources they find, in the same way they have created the docks and small houses where they keep their equipment and other belongings.

As it was the first time I visited the place, I took some time to assimilate it, because otherwise the overexcitement would not have allowed me to find good compositions, so I tried a little to isolate the elements in space, instead of trying to capture the whole chaotic landscape.

I was also playing with the different focal lengths of the two lenses I took that day, a 35-80 and an 85-300, for those who are not photographers I translate the above, both lenses are like telescopes that allow you to zoom in on objects that are at a distance, the larger number let's say is the more powerful telescope.

For my next visit to the site I plan to bring a wide angle lens, which will allow me to cover more elements in a shot.

The other element to take into account was that the schedules were not the most ideal to take the pictures since I live in the Caribbean and between 10 am and 4 pm which was the time I was there, the sun was very strong creating super hard contrast, witness of that was the toasted color that my face had when I got home. 😅

But still I think I did a good job and I'm happy with some of the shots, although I plan to return soon and continue working in that place.

Cuando mis amigos pintores me convocaron para unírmeles en una sesión de pleing-air (pintura al aire libre) en la pequeña base pesquera de la localidad habanera de Casa blanca, ya más menos me imaginaba que me iba a gustar la experiencia, ya que el mar es una de los lugares que más disfruto, mientras ellos bromeaban acerca de quién iba realizar más trabajos en ese día yo me reía y les mostraba mi cámara, seguro que yo jajajjaja.
El lugar es muy interesante, es una base de pesca realmente pobre, donde los pescadores construyen sus embarcaciones ellos con sus propias manos y los escasos recursos que van encontrando, de la misma manera han creado los muelles y las pequeñas casitas donde guardan su equipo y otras pertenencias.

Como era la primera vez que visitaba el lugar, me tome un tiempo para asimilarlo, porque de otra forma la sobrexcitación no me hubiera permitido encontrar buenas composiciones, así que trate un poco de aislar los elementos en el espacio, en lugar de intentar captar de a una, el caótico paisaje.

Fui jugando también con las diferentes distancias focales de los dos lentes que lleve ese día, un 35-80 y un 85-300, para los que no son fotógrafos les traduzco lo anterior, ambos lentes son como telescopios que permiten acercar los objetos que están a distancia, el numero mayor digamos es el telescopio más poderoso.

Para la próxima visita que haga al lugar pienso llevar también un lente ángulo ancho, que me va a permitir abarcar más elementos en una toma.

El otro elemento a tener en cuenta era que los horarios no eran los más ideales para hacer las fotos ya que vivo en el caribe y entre la 10 de la mañana y la 4 de la tarde que fue el tiempo que estuve, el sol estaba bien fuerte creando contraste super duros, testigo de eso fue el color tostado que tenia mi cara al llegar a casa.

Pero bueno aun así creo que realice un buen trabajo y estoy feliz con algunas de las tomas, aunque pienso pronto regresar y seguir creando en ese lugar.
