Luminescent Succession
a retiring corona is interred beneath a brilliant horizon
a painted and surreal abdication of a heavenly sovereign
it’s a breath-taking pageant worth sitting still for
crosslegged on the edge of zen
exhalation bound to the late spring warm breeze
cornhusk silken strands of hair
pulled along with delicate tenacity
the heavy drift of japonica perfuming the seaside dusk
a trail of sand dollars leads the way to the tide’s edge
soft swells and a glimpse of blue-sheen scintillans
herald the nighttime litter bearer of the dimmer empress
the coronation of the day’s successor begins
a heron leaves the water’s edge
takes flight, and returns to nest
little fish in shallow waters
find crevice and cranny to sleep and hide
the wind settles
night’s slick oil calms crest, surge and splash
the rectangles of sky and water blur, become one
the accession and transfer of sway is done
La Reina Nocturna
is a luminescent curved fingernail tonight
an absolute, seductive
resonating ivory vane, beckoning
that waylaid mariners might drop anchor in dark harbours
awe in the goodwill and beauty of her shimmering court
take shelter beneath her divine shield; claim calm and rest
Last Saturday was a busy and full day. We got up early ... well early for us ... which for the vast majority of you is not that early, and we headed over the Burrard Bridge and over to Granville Island for a date with the Big Guy. No not a corrupt and senile octogenarian, who as he sniffs and stumbles under the strings of his cronies, consumes our democracies ... sorry politics ... but seriously. If you are still supporting his team ... stop ... form a new team. Form many more teams. Better yet, let's all be on the same team. Team Humanity.
On our way over, and over ... over is the word of the day. We checked out a small gourmet cheese shop. Les Amis Du Fromage. Score. It was pretty busy and the space was small, and so I just popped in and bought a few pieces of charcuterie; I hope to return soon and truly check out the place, perhaps for @dswigle 's Market Friday.
We didn't stay long on Granville Island; on the whole the trip was anti-climatic, but the trip back was lovely. We grabbed a ferry and tugged across False Creek and that was where we encountered the gorilla Xmas decorating upon this little tree. Fight the power.
It had rained over night and the ornaments were decked out themselves with water droplets. Glittered and mirrored. If you have a keen eye, you may have noticed one of them also doubled as a selfie canvas.
We got home and cleaned and tidied. The place is rather full with seasonal knick knacks. Not a surface bare of festive friends.
Included among the menagerie is the little fellah. Our nutcracker advent counter. Twelve days to go folks ... give or take a few ... given when you are reading this.
No candy. Not to worry, we also have this handmade advent with little envelopes for chocolate goodies. Handmade, you ask. Whose hands? Well my hands of course. Not much was needed but some felt and a needle and thread. A stencil for the numbers. Lots of time.
Today we will be visiting our local aquarium where we will likely enjoy an abbreviated but 4-D version of Polar Express. Yes will be snowed upon and poked in the back. Wish us luck:)
This Iceland looks very wonderful. Its my wish one day i will visit this wonderful place. Over all your photography is very amazing but third picture is my favorite. Thanks for sharing your experience.
Thank you. I did consider making the green ball the first one:)
The toys look great with reflection on them and with raindrops!
Thank you:)
😊🍰
I think a cheese shop visit would make for a fun Market Friday!
In the weeks coming. I have something else in mind for this Friday:)
