THE BEFORE AND AFTER || rebranded bike
THE BEFORE AND AFTER
How many of us remember this post I made days ago concerning my #bike and how I’ve been procrastinating towards getting it fixed? Well, today, the procrastination has finally been worn out as I took the bold step towards getting it fixed: the expenses, cost, and upgrades.
Here is the bike before!
And here is the bike after!
Of course, the difference is crystal clear now, and here, let me quickly show you the new upgrades as well as their cost.
First, I towed the bike on a tricycle and headed to the store where it was to be fixed. I had a slight budget of about 40k to fix the bike, which was around ~$20 – $30, but guess what happened?
Immediately I arrived at the store, the first thing we did was get two new tires and the inflatable tire tubes a single tire cost 6k each, and two of them went for 12k which is about $8
Tow inflatable tire tubes cost 3k for a single making two of it 6k which is about $4

I bought one saddle, and they came in different qualities as well as prices. There was a smaller one, but it didn’t fit my bike because it was a big bicycle, as they said. So I went for the bigger saddle that cost 5.5k which is about $4.
The funny part of it was that the more we bought new items for the bike, the more we began to see new faults and new items to purchase, which was crazy because I already had a fixed budget for what to spend.
Bought a new chain and a freewheel, for some reasons I was asked to change them because the old ones were rusty and I was told it’s not advisable to manage them because they could leave you stranded at some point so I went ahead to give her a new chain and a new freewheel which were 4.5k and 3.5k respectively that made it a sum of 8k which Is about $5.5 to $6

Just as I thought I was done, we found out some parts of the front wheel were damaged as well, and that cost another $3.
At this point, I was already off my budget, and there was a lot yet undone. I had to forgo some items and, at this point, prioritize the most critical items over the manageable ones.
I bought a new pair of mudguards for roughly $3, and a protective lock sold for about a dollar 50 cents. A new bicycle, one leg stand for half a dollar as well, and bicycle arms all together for $2.

The engineer charged me 9k for the workmanship, which is around $6. Now calculating the total money spent was around 55k, approximately $36. And funny enough, I had a few items I needed to upgrade, like the brakes. I decided to manage them since it was still manageable along with the pedals. Those are the only items left and I do hope to get them done as soon as I can. I’m certain it won’t cost me up to $10 for sure, so it’s no big deal. I decided to manage them for the main time.
My #bicycle went out of the house inside a tricycle but everyone was surprised to see me #cycling back home in the evening. The next day, someone asked me how much I bought my new bike; it was funny how people thought and assumed the bike must have been bought just recently; that’s the beauty of #upgrading your #gears, they instantly become new!
