I was lost on the street from "Naukova to Derzhprom", Kharkiv, Ukraine - One Wednesday of my life
I remember I made a lot of videos featuring streets and locations called Naukova and Derzhprom in Kharkiv. My thought was to showcase the city without knowing its future. I still feel sad whenever I see the current situation of that dreamy city. Kharkiv gave me a lot, it is the city where I finished my study, where I found my independence, and where I discovered and learned to see myself in a new way. Probably my skin color doesn't express that I am from Kharkiv but I carry the city within my heart. Some people even can't think that foreigners used to live in Kharkiv. Kharkiv was known as a student city just like Utrecht, Netherlands. Students all over the world especially medical students used to come there to study medicine.
Naukova used to be famous for universities, a lot of universities were located there, especially engineering and medical universities. Only a few people know this information and still many don't have any idea about this. Today I decided to give a short tour from Naukova to Derzhprom street. I wrote many posts before about these streets, and also made videos while walking on the same street. Everything is past now, everything changed. Many infrastructures are broken now, and the street remains empty yet people there learned to live in war, they learned how to survive in war. They are not afraid of artillery or rockets anymore I guess...

Derzhprom Building
I used to go to Naukova mostly for document work, my university location was different. Naukova was not only known for universities but also many government offices were located there and that was the main reason I used to go there. Besides, sometimes I used to go to McDonald's and the nearest location to my home was Naukova. It used to take 15 minutes by metro from my home.
Many restaurants were located there as well...
This was Radioelectronics University. Interesting architecture isn't it? Thick exterior wall and flavor of post soviet architecture. You won't believe the interior of the university, you can't even guess because the interior was completely different and modern. But only the lobby area was renovated, and classrooms were still soviet design. Many foreign students used to study engineering there because they had English version courses.

I exactly can't remember the name of the building. I took this picture to show the entrance of the building. The large arch entrance also indicates soviet architecture. Most of the office buildings used to have this kind of entrance...
Nobody thought about renovating this kind of entrance because they wanted to carry the city's history.
One of the top medical universities in Kharkiv was Kharkiv National Medical University. This avenue is called Nauky Ave. This university is more than 200 years old and has a huge history. I used to go there to meet friends even I went inside as well. the university was huge but large damage happened due to war. It's hard to believe what is happening there, it's heartbreaking.
Students of this university used to feel proud of being students there because the admission exam was tough there. Besides after graduating from this university, many established their career.
The location of the university was very prominent and from far away everybody knew which university was it.
The surroundings of this university and the entrance of this university were prominent and nice. Many restaurants, office buildings, and residential buildings were located there.

Summer and autumn were beautiful indeed and snowy winters used to cover everything here with snow...
From Naukova to Derzhprom it takes 10 minutes if you walk straight. You will directly reach Karazin Medical University, the 1 university in Kharkiv, Ukraine. Thousands of foreign students used to study there. I once attended their convocation and it was a large celebration. Obviously, when you are a student of a no1 university, you feel proud and students of this university used to be proud of themselves. A huge part of this university was destroyed on February 2022 due to war. It was all over the news. One faculty building completely destroyed and reconstruction is needed.
I am going to end this post by featuring the landmark and prominent building of Kharkiv called "Derzhprom". It was a multipurpose office building. It was the first modern multi-storied Constructivist architectural building constructed during the soviet period and was standing proudly until February 2022. On 24th February 2022, freedom square was heavily damaged due to the rocket/ missile attack and damaged Karazin university, Shevchenko Park, City Hall, and a part of Derzhprom. This building was the pride of Kharkiv and still, it is considered the pride of Kharkiv which represents the history and industrial development of the city.
Tomorrow is the 7th of January and Christmas is for Orthodox people. I only wish for peace and glory in Ukraine...
I really hope my post will give you a significant idea of my city in Ukraine.
My last post about this location can be found here..My Friday - Colorful Fall - Exploring Infrastructures and Sculptures of Kharkiv City, Ukraine

Here I am thinking that many of the buildings that you show, may have been in need of serious repairs or even complete reconstructions since the war, when the war ends.
For now, their architectural splendor lives on in the memories of the people who appreciated them.

Some of them need serious repair actually. Kharkiv people are strong and I am sure soon they will come up with solutions...
I keep the hope that, in the future, publications like this can serve as a reference in the reconstruction of the city.
They are good images, greetings to Gigi.
