Playing with the Photo Mode of Ghost of Tsushima

Hello and welcome back to my blog!

As you might already know, I love to play games with beautiful graphics and take some shots from those games. One of the most visually stunning games I have played over the years is Ghost of Tsushima. As you wander around the island, you will see a lot of things that catch your eye. I would spend up to 10 minutes on just one shot, adjusting all the things and playing with the settings in the photo mode. This is one of the best photo modes in the game I have seen.

The cover image I used here was adjusted deliberately so that the sun falls right behind Jin, and the foggy weather makes it more interesting.

That same cover shot gives a different vibe when you have a thunderstorm. You can adjust the weather and wind speed to give it a more dramatic look.

There are some peaceful spots in the game, like places where Jin composes Haiku. These have a nice view as well. Sometimes these spots are on the edge of cliffs or in the middle of a thick forest.

The island of Tsushima is filled with symbols of invasion. Dead bodies can be found everywhere, Sometimes you see villages destroyed or burned, severed heads on spikes or hanging bodies from the trees. All of these small details make this environment unique and give you a good idea of how things would have likely been there in times of such barbaric invasions.

Mongol soldiers and bandits are patrolling every corner of the island. You will end up in numerous conflicts, which won't let you get bored this easily while roaming around from one place to another. Sometimes I go out in search of supplies or hunt some bears for their hides to increase the number of arrows or darts I can carry, and bumping into some Mongol soldiers would be quite a frequent affair.

One of the things I love to capture in every game or even in real life is the trees. Especially those who are secluded or stands out from their surroundings. I played with the color grading mode and decided to save it as a B/W image. Otherwise the blue sky and the sea was taking away too much focus from this composition.

There are some unique filters too, which don't work with every shot but rarely look better than the others. For the next shot, it looks almost grayscale image, but it is not. There was a yellow hue which made me choose this shot over the other colour options. It looked good to my eyes, but that could just be very subjective, and I might hate this shot lol.

There are stamps that you can use as overlays on your shots. There are a lot of them, and I used one for my cover image. One other thing that I like is the title 'Ghost of Tsushima' at the bottom. So much cleaner and gives me plenty of room to showcase my creativity. The next shot is using the same, where a Mongol camp can be seen close to the shoreline with pretty dramatic clouds ready to burst anytime.

I will share one more overlay, and I want to know which one you like the most.

I want to share a common object found in this game, the hanging lamps! I love these little lamps and took some shots with them as well. Had to make the scene more foggy to give it this gloomy look. I think it turned out well, what do you think?

There are many lamp designs too. The next one is more elongated, and the weather on the night made it stand out more from the rest of the background.

There is a red filter in the colour-grading options in the photo mode. It can give you some stylised and dramatic shots like the next one. But you've got to make sure not to overdo it. I love the red sky in the shot and the fact that we are on the rooftops, ready to fit, haha.

Probably my favourite shot from the entire game is this next shot where Jin is wearing this upgraded Sakai armour that looks sick and has his sword drawn out, looking at the mystical forest. I freaking loved the lights coming through the forest. The best part was that I didn't have to use any filters, just had to adjust the framing a bit. What a beautiful game Sucker Punch Productions have created.

Let me know which one is your favourite shot from above. Mine will be the last one! I am going to use some of those for my desktop wallpapers, too.

Thanks for reading...

Until next shot...

I love how constant you are, I should take you as an example but sometimes it seems that the hours in the day are not enough. Really beautiful landscapes and scenery, you have to have a really good eye.

Damn these are good! What a great way to use the photo mode 🤌🏼 I have never explored photo modes as such, always been busy with story aspects of the game haha. I should give this a try on Alan Wake 2 today and see what I turn up with.

Thanks, bro. I love to play with Photo modes and lately most games come with it and that's a nice trend to see in the gaming industry. Alan Wake 2 looks good too so I will be waiting to see what you can come up with.

Great captures. I'm also playing this game so I know how cool the photo mode is. The effects/filters that you used one some photos, suits well with the angles. @tipu curate 8

Yeah, it is a beautiful game with equally nice photo mode. I have yet to play with the camera tracking thing, that seems more complex.

Thanks for the support!

Camera tracking? In the photo mode or when you're playing? I don't have any idea about it.

And you're most welcome 🤗
