Happy hump day 😎🎉 and a very warm welcome to my world 😊. As always glad you stopped by. It's a new month and I can't believe May is already here, the year is flying. I am definitely grateful for this day and as it draws to a close, it's time to take a peek into how my stepping went and also share some of the trending stories I came across. Come on, let's glide in 💨.
So as usual I had two major walks just like yesterday, starting off with the fast paced brisk walk around the neighbourhood. A short session that I enjoyed. Then I was back indoors for the usual household chores and a little bit of resting. The afternoon saw me walk to the shopping centre for some cooking groceries. As always I squeezed in my usual nap before evening set in. Then it was time for the slow paced evening walk enjoying the cool evening breeze🍃. Meanwhile in between the day I had been watching the trending stories on the news and also a little bit of crypto/twitter. let's get into that next
Locally, the usual political shenanigans 😹 kept going. The rescue efforts continue in the flooding areas, relief food and other items sent to people who lost their homes. Repairs being made to damaged infrastructure including roads, bridges and piping.
Today was a national holiday, labour day honoring workers.
Globally, Israeli airstrikes kept going in Rafa, two children reportedly killed😿.
Then Israel, trending as US secretary of state Anthony Blinken met Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu. The PM insisting that a Rafa ground invasion must happen even if a ceasefire is reached🙀.
The US on the other hand is opposed to any invasion of Rafa without a prior humanitarian intervention.
The US, urging Hamas to accept the proposed ceasefire deal, but Hamas still weighing on the deal.
In Europe, Georgia trending as parliament advanced the controversial foreign agents bill🙀.
What followed were violent demonstrations outside parliament. Police used water canons and teargas to disperse the crowds.
Opponents of the new bill say it could be used to crack down on govt critics😿.
It will also delay Georgia's bid to join the EU.
Also trending, the UK has started detaining asylum seekers, getting ready to deport them to Rwanda🙀.
In the other war, Russia seized more ground in Ukraine's east as Kyiv's forces await supplies. Russia is also increasing weapons production.
Across the pond in the US, many more universities have joined the pro Palestinian protests.
Police deployed to UCLA after group holding Israeli flags attacked a peaceful rally🙀.
In Wisconsin, police arrested demonstrating students. In new York, police raided and cleared a hall where demonstrating students had barricaded themselves arresting some of them.
Let's keep our eyes open on what may happen next.
