Happy Caturday 🐈 and a very warm welcome from Bob and yours truly😹. It's Bob's day to claw 🐾 into the blockchain and as always glad you stopped by. It's been a great day and as it fades away, I am raring to go with my stepping activities and also share some of the trending stories that made headlines. Thank you for reading and let's get started 💨.
So as usual, I kicked off early with a few rounds of brisk walking 👣 and jogging around the neighborhood 🌲. It was a beautiful sunny 🌞 morning and I enjoyed the fresh morning breeze.
Then I was back indoors for a bit of resting before embarking on the little house chores around the house. Up and down and in between I kept watching the news for trending stories. Then later in the afternoon a quick stop at the mall for groceries. Next, I was back indoors sleeping for the usual refreshing afternoon nap💤. The evening came in quite swiftly, I was up, cooking and watching a bit of you tube and some interesting EPL matches. The sunset walk came as it was almost getting dark, as always slow paced enjoying the cool evening/night breeze. I finally made it back home safe and sound calling it a day.
So that was my day but lets finish with some of the trending stories.
Locally, a rather quiet day except for the usual political shenanigans 😹. Last night the country experienced a blackout as some outage was experienced from a major power plant. Happy that that was sorted out and power is fully back💯.
On the continent Niger trending as the junta leaders held a big rally declaring the country free on the one month anniversary of the coup.The junta have ordered the French ambassador to leave the country in 48 hrs🙀. They said France was acting against the interests of Niger. France replied saying the junta had no right to ask the ambassador to leave😹.
Not far off, internet access cut off and nightly curfew imposed after polls closed in Gabon🙀. President Ali Bongo is standing for a third time and has served two consecutive seven year terms. The Bongo family has been in power since 1967. This will definitely be another 'win' 😹.
Let's go to Europe, where Spain trending as Fifa suspended football president Rubiales for the spontaneous stolen kiss on player Hermoso in a moment of excitement that the team had won the world cup. So much has been said about that kiss even the prime minister spoke of it😹. Anyway the suspension is for 90 days, to stay away from football related activities.
Across the pond in the US, Saturday marks 60 years since Martin Luther king Jr's march on Washington and his "I have a dream" speech. Around 250,000 people joined the 1963 march to demand equal rights for African Americans. Some strides have been made and things got better but more still needs to be done💯. Thousands gathered in Washington to remember the auspicious day.
Let's finish off in Panama where low water levels in the Panama canal are restricting the number of ships permitted to pass through🙀. 32 vessels a day are being allowed through down from normal daily of 36. Weight restrictions are being imposed to reduce the risk of ships running aground in low water. Around 150 vessels are queueing at both canal entrances from Atlantic and Pacific oceans. Delays being reported and shipping costs increased🙀. Let's hope the situation gets better 💯.
